Southeast Rallysport Associates, a group of rally event organizers and competitors, will be presenting the Resaca Summer Sprints on July 19, 2003 at the Diamondback Sports Park in Resaca, Georgia.
The Sprints will consist of approximately 27 special stage miles contested over three multistage sprints covering approximately 9 miles each. The possibility of a second 2 mile stage is being explored so mileage may be revised upward. FIA, SCCA and CARS rally licenses will be recognized for this event. Competitors must hold licenses from one of these three organizations to compete. FIA and SCCA classes will be recognized. Preparation, classing and scrutineering of vehicles will be per applicable rules. This is not an FIA, SCCA or CARS sanctioned event.
The event will take place at the DiamondBack Sports Park. Nestled on 800 pristine acres in North Georgia, the park will boast a custom designed special stage of approximately 3 miles totally encompassed on the property. It will be a wide open flat stage with long straights to stretch competitor?s ?legs? and a number of technical sections to test their ability to go right and left, and will be run in both directions over the course of the day. There will be a short (100-200 yard) transit from service to the stage.
Entries will open on Friday, June 20, 2003 and will be limited to 20 on a first come first served basis. Entry fee for the event will be $150.00 through July 4, 2003, after which it will be $175.00. Cancellations will be subject to a handling fee of $25.00. Entry fee may be subject to revision. This is a not-for-profit event.
There is no co-driver requirement. Conduct of the event will be such that vehicles may have either one or two drivers per vehicle. However, each driver of a vehicle will be required to pay the full entry fee. There will be an opportunity for recce of the stages prior to the event, and pace notes will be allowed. It is the organizers intent, but it is not guaranteed, that the event will be such that it may be driven "blind" without undue risk to driver or navigator.
Conduct of the event will be per supplemental regulations which will be available on-line to competitors prior to the event. A full schedule and supplementary regulations will be scheduled and posted in the near future.
A rallycross will be conducted on-site on Sunday, July 20, encompassing portions of the stage.
Camping will be allowed on-site, and we encourage competitors to stay on-site for the whole weekend. There will be a party on-site Saturday night. If a hotel room is a must, there are numerous hotels in Calhoun, Georgia, less than 10 miles away. A listing of nearby accommodations can be found on the website, which is rudimentary at the moment.
