And here is the BEST part...

""...while ugly internecine club warfare eliminated the Press On Regardless, the most famous pro rally in America, to be replaced by something called the Lake Superior Rally."

The article ends with:

"Brock Yates is not an employee of SPEED Channel and the views expressed in Mr. Yates' column do not necessarily reflect the views of SPEED Channel, RACER Communications or the staff of RACER Magazine."

I found his views to be a remarkably accurate status report on US rallying.

Until the advent of the on-board camera, pro rallying fell into the same niche as drag racing, which the late Curtis Turner said ?is like masturbation. Kind of fun to do, but not much fun to watch.?

This person obviously never watched an event anywhere near a corner and was "showered" by a ridiculously overpowered Volvo during a drift.

For those of you who do not know Brock Yates , he is and has been a long time supporter of Rallying in any form In this country. He is not, However a fan of SCCA. Gee Imagine that? He has attended and competed in more rallies than most of our National Champions, past or present. Please do not think that everyone you haven't heard of can't know anything about rallying. We need more friends like Brock.
