I normally lurk on this board but I noticed this blurb when reading the article on the Oregon Trail rally. It said:

Tim O'Neil, prior to Sunday's start, expressed delight at his current position on the road. "Our Focus doesn't have active differentials like the Mitsus, so we're pleasantly amazed to be running second on the road. We keep getting more comfortable on the road, so we'll continue to push."

I would guess this is probably either an error or typo, or, have the rules changed regarding active diffs? By "active" does he mean limited slip? BTW, I don't want to stir things up - I'm just curious.

Open class technology limits prohibit electronic control of front and rear differentials, but there is no mention of the centre differential, so that is unrestricted.

Same wording in SCCA and CARS on this.

We also know that this is almost completely impossible to enforce with the current tech inspection process we have now. Who knows what people are running.
