I think this is a problem that could be taken care of with appropriate marshalling. Our latest idea is to place marshalls with cones on their heads near all potential hazards to the rally competitor, like this:

I'd wager that our marshals will not be so spiffily dressed. I think each marshal having a bottle of wine with them would be frowned upon also.
How's the Buffett song go (depending on the album):
Were stayin' in a Holiday Inn full of surgeons
(We're staying in a Holiday Inn full of coneheads)
I guess they meet there once a year
(They meet here twice a year)
They exchange physician stories
(They consume mass quantities of fiberglass)
And get drunk on Tuborg beer
(And get drunk on cheap ass beer)
Then they're off to catch a stripper
With their eyes glued to her G
But I don't think that I would ever let them cut on me.
And I thought I had all those pictures bought and destroyed!
I have no idea where you get your info...
For everyone's info, I'm with the wife in Germany who's working a brain surgeon meeting.
Just ran into a few of the Docs and it's the 4seasons, no crappy Holiday Inn.
The sign was on B1 from Potsdam to Berlin and the road looked like those old race movies from the 30's with tree canopys over the road.
Very historic looking.
Further up on the entrance to the city was the Avus grandstands and stuff, I was pretty impressed with the massivness of the facilities.
The rally updates are at 11pm for 1/2 hour with that english guy speaking, no Ralph, no Nicky, but no waiting for Sunday night either.
Plus I'm 6 hours ahead too.
BTW Audi A4 turbo D maxes at 139.178 indicated, I'll have to find a downhill to get the last couple hundred revs to redline.
Let's print these on thin cardboard and make those who perform this feat at an event come to the awards abnquet with this hung around their necks. I bet it would reduce the number of accidents and lower our insurance rates!
