I actually think this is the best thing that could ever happen to rallying in the US.
We now have a "free spin" to form the sport into what we want it to be....

Also, let's hearken back to the infancy days of mtn biking. A small bunch of people got together and formed NORBA, the national off-road bicycle assn. the United States Cycling Federation, who had (has) the monopoly on pro and amateur racing in the US (sound familiar?), and who wouldn't know a mtn bike from it's arse, promptly stated that anyone competing in a NORBA sectioned event would have their USCF license revoked. This lasted nearly a whole season, and while i don;'t know of a case where USCF actually followed through with a revocation, it set a dangerous precedent. (some would correctly say extortion).

The end result of this was that NORBA grew so fast and became so prosperous, that it was bought out....by the USCF.

So, four years from now, i envision "Rally America, a division of the Sports Car Club of America"
