now that I'm finally driving the wife's old (relative terms here) '94 Jetta III. I'm wondering if anybody is making a bolt on skid plate for the engine and fuel tank. Bolt on or minor welding preferred. I know I could just go get something made, but I'd like to not have to think too hard about this car as my Honda is requiring all my migrane power these days.

I'm thinking about rallycrossing this car this summer as the Honda Evo 1 is currently undergoing surgery for the cage and a bypass with a new home built/custom wiring harness.

thanks,
Paul K.

They are made. Get yourself a "Tuning Zubehor" catalog, and there are at least to manufacturers who make them (I think OMP, and someone else). These are front plates. I do not know about a fuel tank plate. Cheap way to do the fuel tank is to get a salvage fuel tank, cut it in half, and use the bottom half. My understanding is that you can even get it under the stock tank straps.
