Is there enough interest in a 30 mile stage event in Michigan?
Sanctioned by either or both sanctioning bodies?

I'd appreciate input from rally drivers and co-drivers.
I.E. People that would possibly enter such an event, for a low entrance fee.
I know everyone seems to enjoy rally crosses, but would it be worth it to put forth the effort to bring a smaller event to this state on a stand alone basis?

It would be set up with the same format as a coff 3 with at least 2 stages,a service, spectator area and the rest of what a stage rally is like. Hopefully to encourage at a buget price newbies to our sport.

Plus this event would be a good "tuner" for the other events in and round
Michigan, yet not be using any of the same areas as any other event.
Also a good testing event for some of the bigger guys.

Thank you very much.

If the roads are suitable and twisty, I don't think anyone will complain about another short "weekender" rally. Where are you thinkin'?

You'll probably be run over in the rush. Michigan is heavy in high profile events and poor in shorter, less expensive rallies. What you propose would play to a large untapped resource.

Lower MI, Right?

Then YES. We'd be there. I have a possible venue or two for a super special in the livingston county area, and there are a few sparsly populated very fun roads in the area...

Where to put it on the calendar will be an important consideration, as CenDiv has a pretty full schedule.

...for 2004. Long term, this probably isn't a good date, as Cadillac WILL be back.

Wouldn't it be HORRIBLE to have so many events in your division that they started to clash? No, it wouldn't. You could schedule it right on top of Shooting Star as far as I'm concered.

It will be in Lake county,(Baldwin,Mich)
I have already talked to the DNR and the Lake County Road Commission, the Lake County ,Under Sheriff, the Village President and Chamber President, and a few more local biggies.

I have COMPLETE verbal permission from all of them, and they know I would soon need written permission. I also have had two or three business owners say they "were alive for some "SPONSOR MONIES"!
The date of the CFR I will not use ,that date should stay with that rally.
Besides I'd like this to be a "tuner" for the CFR.
I have worked with the community and the ONLY DATES that work for them,(Its their woods),are either June 11 2005 or second choice is July 9,2005. They have to many other festivals and stuff going on to spend any time or money on any other date, and I didn't want to tick them off.
The stage I have set -up and approved is about 16.6 miles. Only one stage run in both directions with a service thrown in between.
The other problem, I have and need lots of input on is a head quarters Motel. There are none big enough in Baldwin. Would it be to far to be out of Ludington 19.4 miles from the stage or at the Hampton in Cadillac 42,miles away. The site of the CFR?

>Bruce,r u the new cen div club rally stewart? For SCCA !?

I'm the SCCA CenDiv ClubRally Steward, but I'm hardly new at the job. Let me know if you need some help...you should have a copy of the new Ops Manual, too. There are a lot of people in the Division who can help you...don't try to put on a rally alone.

I think it would be great to have another rally in Michigan. I would be there. I also think it might be a good idea to have headquarters in a bigger town since it would draw more attention. Any chance there is a good spectating spot on the road? So I guess count me in!

>in PA. Total 30 miles, 1 day event, 60 entrants! :9

Of course that was after TEN YEARS of being an outstanding rally AND SCHOOL. They paid their dues with smaller turnouts at first.

It's wise to budget for a small turnout, especially with a new and unknown organizing committee.

Living in central Michigan and knowing that we have plenty of stage miles, I truly believe that we could have our own "Michigan Championship."
Take Sno*Drift (2), Lake Superior (2), Cadillac (1), Magnum Opus (1) and add maybe one or two more one day events would make a nice series.
MO and CFR could revise some scheduling and I'm sure there would be room for two more.
Michigan Rallye Champion.. hmm, has a ring to it. :+
