This is why:

***Held in the Tokachi region on the island of Hokkaido since 2001, Japan's World Rally Championship candidate event, RALLY HOKKAIDO this week received an invaluable boost with the inauguration in the City of Obihiro of the RALLY HOKKAIDO Support Association.

Headed by Mr OSUGA Yasufumi, Chairman of The Tokachi Tourism Federation, at its first meeting the powerful Tokachi based support organisation determined to actively support the "further development of RALLY HOKKAIDO into a world class event." Membership of the RHSA is composed of the leaders of fifteen associations, many of them allied to the growing tourism and hospitality industry in the region.

RALLY HOKKAIDO Co-organiser Mainichi Newspapers welcomed the formation of the support group with Hokkaido General Manager, Mr ONISHI Yasufumi commenting?

" I felt the strong support of the entire Tokachi business community behind our WRC bid at the meeting ".

Meanwhile, preparation for this year's event which with the cancellation of Rallye de Nouvelle Caledonie, has become the third round of the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship continues on schedule despite above average snowfalls on the course during winter. Early indications are for another record entry with strong interest being shown by European teams keen to sample the stages, which may soon form part of a World Championship round.***

- Good job, Japan. I'll be there....soaking in natural baths between stages, eating freshest sea food in the world...and so on
- Rally Hokkaido is easiest to spectate, too. Shuttle bus service run between stages and hotels - no stress, no driving - let's have a SAPPORO Draft!
