Newer build. 1999 Subaru Impreza with 2002 WRX engine, JDM Sti 5-speed. Fully Equipped with all safety gear, New Sparco Seats, Newer Belts, Terratrip intercom. Priced for quick sale, includes Brand new Mud tires, Snow tires, several sets of gravel tires and 1 set of compomotive rims. Tein 40 mm suspension at all four wheels, Back up set of DMS included. Only one race in logbook. Was built for open class, but currently set up for Production AWD. Asking$16,000. Car hauler trailer available separately. All non-rally trades considered. PM for pictures. As the CARS Production 4wd rules were written for 2013, driveline swaps were allowed within models - allowing a wrx driveline in an RS shell.
Revisions to that rule, restricting driveline swaps to within a 'generation' would return this car to open, as would have the JDM 5 speed in any case.

thanks for clarifying. i was under the impression that it has to be the way it was sold in North America
what about sti engine in 99 RS?

The rules as written for 2013, if the STi driveline were a north american driveline and left stock, then yes. However, there is a rule change coming that will restrict drivelines to within the same generation for production.
well that's the thing
there were NO TURBO IMPREZAS till 2002 in North America!
so till then there were only n/a imprezas.
and that was my question all about - how can it be in "production" class
