Rally Update, 100 Acre Wood Rally

I have been slow with updating the build but It is now done and the car has finished the 100 Acre Wood Regional Rally.
We did have some issues with a strut coming apart and this slowed us but we pressed on to the finish.
The 034 parts did great, the IIb fuel injection system worked great. We are looking forward to more racing.
Enjoy the pictures.

Thanks, We were very happy to finish. The next rally we will work on getting faster and keeping all the parts on.

Thanks for towing us up that bobsled run. Our tires were spinning but the car kept sliding backwards.
No problem. That was a very icy and steep hill and we were glad to help you get to the finish.
Hope to see you guys at some future races were the roads are a little better.

I am starting a rally build and was hoping to find out who inspected your cage here in Missouri ? I plan on getting my cage done in a month or so . thanks
It was Rob Wright that inspected the cage, just like Mark thought.
Just contact him and arrange a date, time and location for the inspection.
He is a very good guy and easy to deal with.

Hope your build is going well and that we will see you on stage in the future.

Just thought I would post a very short video of us from the 100AW rally.
Also we are on the look out for Used or New 14" rally tires, if anyone has some send me a personal message.

2013 Perryville Rally Update.

We finished the rally 14th overall and 7th in class.
This was a very fun rally. We only had one incident with two bad spark plugs on the first 4 stages, it caused us to be down on power for those stages but new plugs fixed us up for the final 4 stages.
We are getting faster and are looking forward to 100AW and Perryville next year.
Enjoy the photos and videos.

2014 100 Acre Wood Rally Update:

Car ran great both days:
Finished 9th in class both days.
19th overall at Tresspassers Wil regional
15th overall at 100 Acre Wood regional
Still making small adjustments to the car. We need to get the lights adjusted for the night stages.
Also talked with Tim O'Neil about setting up the car, He really enjoyed the car and suggested that we change noting about the car.
We are going to do some testing with the differentials locked and see how that performs, Tim said that is how they run the Audi rally cars at the rally school.
Enjoy the pictures and the videos.

The 3rd video has our one spin of the rally when a rear ball joint came loose and caused a little rear-wheel-steering. We stopped short of the large log and tree, that could have been the end of the rally for us, thankfully it was not.

Audi Rally Car Testing

A few weeks ago we took the rally car out for some testing with the differentials locked.
Car was much more predictable and stable.
Also weighted the car:
Total Weight race ready with 2 gallons of gas and no driver or co-driver 2910 lbs
Weight on Front Axle: 1600 lbs 55% front
Weight on Rear Axle: 1310 lbs 45% rear

Not bad weight distribution, it helps that we carry 2 spares, the battery and tools in the trunk.

Nice looking Audi, I have a set of those Audi wheels for my '84 Rabbit GTI. They look cool.
Thanks,
Those rims look good and are very tough.
I have looked at your build and it also is looking good. Hope to see you at Perryville.

2014 Show Me Rally Update

Just an update from the 2014 Show Me Rally.
The car ran Great. Differential locks worked great and made the car much more predictable on the gravel.
We improved our time on the 100 Acre Wood super special by around 4 seconds and we set faster times on all the repeated stages the second time through.
The final result were 2nd in Open Light and 9th Overall. We are very happy with the result and look to keep improving at 100 Acre Wood in February.
Due to a scoring error on Stage 4 our official time is not correct. We should have a Stage 4 time of 8:02.8 giving us a total time of 51:23.7 which put us in 9th overall.
Enjoy the pictures and the videos.

Parts Car

Glad to see a 4000 still on the stages! If you need any spares, let me know. Tons of 10vt stuff around the shop and my house. There's a full '87 4000CSQ with a 10vt swap in my garage too if you need a parts car. :)
Ron,
We are always interested in a parts car. I sent you a PM. Reply back to that with the details. I am also interested in what other spare parts you would be willing to let go of. You can keep our rally car going and we can help fund your build.

Man i love your Audi 4000! :)
Nice! I have a 4000 20vt in my garage. What rallies do you plan on competing in this year? If you are having trouble getting ahold of rte7x9 let me know, I can help you contact him.
Thanks for the nice comments.

We are going to race at 100 Acre Wood and if the Show-Me rally comes back we will be at that race.

We would like to get to other events but lack of money is the determining factor. Any sponsors that want to throw funds our way?
We would like to do Ojibwe but the distance and timing does not work very well. We may have to try a NASA event like Magnum Opus.

rallyfreak202, if you can get a hold of rte7x9 and have him send me some information on the parts car that would be great.

100 Acre Wood 2015 Update

100 Acre Wood was not the typical gravel rally, with ice and snow covering most of the stages but the Audi did well.
We were able to recce the first day of stages and made notes on the road conditions. This helped us keep speed up in the mostly gravel sections and slow down during the icy parts.
Like everyone we had moments of sliding and spinning on the ice but the results for the first day were very good.
We finished 9th in the open light class and 20th overall in regional (27th overall, regional and national combined out of 60)

The second day was a lot slower for us due to less confidence in the road conditions, we did not recce those stages. We were also just behind the large accident after the first service so we only ran 3 stages on the second day. Not how we wanted day two to go. Results for the 3 stages we did run put us 9th in the open light class and 21st overall in regional.

Looking at our combined times from both days compared to the entire field we finished 6th in open light class and 25th overall.
This is our best finish and the stage times keep getting faster.

We had a lot of interest in the car during parc expose this year. It was great to meet all the people that were cheering for the Audi. Enjoy the pictures and videos. I will post some in-car video soon.

2015 Headwaters Rally

The 2015 Headwaters rally went well for us. We finished 5th overall and 3rd in the open light class. The heat in the car and in my race suit caused me to not be able to keep on the notes after about the 13 mile mark on the 20 mile stage so we were not driving up to our full potential but we still had a good rally. The first stage was our best stage time and this was with a minute and a half stop to check on the other Audi that was flipped on its roof off the road. We were glad no one was hurt, and in a situation like that we want to make sure we see the OK sign before we continue. If we take that minute thirty second time stop out we would be 20 sec from the fastest stage time, not bad for being off notes for the last 7 miles.
The car ran without any issues and hopefully we can put together a complete run at the Show-Me Rally in September.
Enjoy the Videos and Pictures. https://picasaweb.google.com/kendalwoolf/2015HeadwatersRally?authuser=0&feat=directlink

Nice rig!
Thanks. I got the same comment on another forum. We wanted the trailer to match the car so we thought we would do the truck the same way. It makes us look more "professional" than we are. Truth be told the truck is just one of our farm trucks and the trailer is a converted Little Debbie trailer, but they work well together.

Sounds good too! what's on there for exhaust? it sounds good, but a bit on the quieter side , stock headers and free after that ? or maybe just a very effective muffler?

after having a few intercom failures, i prefer a very quiet sounding exhaust , on my car. still like everyone else to be loud, lol
We are running the stock 4000 quattro manifold into 3 inch pipe all the way to the back where we have a 3 inch Borla XR-1 and at the end is a 3 inch race cat.
