2wd is also shown elsewhere, go where good action is respected.

What is the possibility of a proper Classis rally in the US or Canada ???
I am not talking about putting a H next to your car number and calling it Historic!
Do we have the cars or the drivers?
I see you guys like the Rallymaster and Datsun Violet GT, I have one.
You guys like the Nissan 240RS, I have one, What am I crazy I can not drive one of these cars I have not driven in a Rally for 20+ years or Rallycross for 15 years. Maybe the 1978 Dodge Colt, No I will never find the parts. It will have to be the Datsun
1600SSS. See you guys on a rally next year.

This discussion has taken place several times over the past 10 years.

I have always thought that a Historic Class should be for drivers, not cars.

In other words, picture a series (possibly aligned with RA or another body) of say six events with identical modern 2WD cars. However, the drivers (and co-drivers) have to be historic, 60 years old and up.

Think of the possibilities, Buffum, Perusse, Millen, Boyce, Heinonen, etc. Taisto (at age 73) has recently demonstrated just how attractive such a competition could be.

Why handicap those guys with modern 2wd cars? Taisto just showed that he doesn't need any stinkin modern car to comprehensively kick and stomp a lot , all really 2wd cars and a fair number of 4wd cars..

And besides, what does 'modern" mean? Taisto said once over some beer that he figured he could do whatever was needed with jusst about 850cc in the right car, that being a Saab 96 of course like what he started with...He asked what spec my ol '69 was, I told him, and asked what could you do with that?

    "Overall win, no problem"

My '69 was 'modern" compared to his old 850 from '65

I agree with the 2wd, just don't see why folks should be saddled with the unsuitable modern heavy pig-cars of the last 25 years, when anything good would do fine.
