Default Black Rockets tires in for testing

Yesterday we went to Denver International Airport to pickup up a couple of sets of Black Rocket gravel rally tires just in from Finland. We received a set of 15/65-15 BR33s and a set of 17/65-15 BR44s for our testing. We are hoping to get them mounted and see how they work this weekend. Believe it or not they are retreads. They have told us these tires are used throughout Europe with any problems. If they work out, we will be carrying these tires very soon at a very reasonable rate. Check back soon.

14 inch tires will be available if we decide to carry this brand.

This is why we are testing the 2 sets we received. We want to make sure these retreads will hold up. We have been talking to a driver from Finland who has used these tires in the past. Right now, our impression is that these tires will work well for rallycross and light rally cars. But some of the carcasses may be from road tires which will present a problem for heavier cars on rougher courses.

Before we mount them, we put the BR tires on the scales:

    BR33 15/65-15 (hard) = 29.55 lbs
    BR44 17/65-15 (hard) = 29.90 lbs

    for comparison:
    DMACK DMG+ 205/65R15 (hard) = 32.90 lbs
    Pirelli Scorpion 205/65R15 (hard) = 36.75 lbs
    Yokohama AO35 185/65R15 (soft) = 24.15 lbs
    Yokohama AO35 185/60R15 (soft) = 23.80 lbs
    Yokohama AO35 175/65R14 (soft) = 23.15 lbs

Here is question to and response from Black Rocket manufacturer:
Q: "One question we are being asked is what type of tire carcasses do you use?"
A: "15" BR 22, BR 33 and BR 44 we use rally casings, and also 14" BR 44 we use only rally casings."

Hard to imagine that all that labor and material cost is 60% less than a new tire....Keep us informed on the tire performance.

Also, I am not "privileged" to see the images in the first post. Can you link to them and show them on this forum so we all can see?
