    Default Civic Gp.2 Build!

Hey guys! I wanted to take this chance to introduce myself to the community and share my build process (all the while tapping into the endless experience here mwhaha...). My names Peter, I recently moved to Cochrane....from Calgary so really only down the street... I've always had an urge to race rally cars since I have been young and finally I have my own space and money to turn it to reality! Living where I am there are plentiful opportunities to race that are just in my backyard. I plan on volunteering more while I'm in the process of the build and also entering into TSD's (they seem soooo fun and I finally have something that I can toss down the dirt roads haha). My goal at the moment is to have a logbooked car for Kananaskis in November, however my original mindset was for cochrane rally in 2013, so I'll see what I can pull off! I'm just looking to have fun at the moment and learning to drive what I have (as you will see it doesnt look like much but it does look like fun)

Anyways! Here she is, 96 civic hatch CX, grabbed it for $550 which is really the cost of the rubber she came with so either way I'm sailing!

Yes I bought it because it was winking at me...how could I resist! (trailer hitch backed into it, not to hard of a f

It runs!! and the interior (sad to say) is decent..ITS COMING OUT!

To do list for general maintenance:
    1) Bot-ox for the droopy eye
    2) Viagra for the floppy shifter(in the form of new bushings)
    3) Tampax for the leaky shifter seal...pun intended...
    Other than that...she's pretty decent

Working on stripping it and getting cage measurements done (i've read the reg's a handful of times and as you'll learn soon, I don't do alot before I research the hell out of it, so I had plenty to keep me going while I was day dreaming my build haha)
    Wish me Luck!

Make sure you talk to a scruitineer before you get to far with the cage.

Extremely excited to see this, and also good to know you are going about things the right way.

If you are looking for ideas (and if you don't know), you should contact Aaron Nuemann. He had a fairly well built Civic.

Thanks a lot Adam! I enjoyed following your thread in Rally Anarchy! to bad about the wreck...excited to see the Subaru though!
And Phlat65, thanks!!! that is a clean looking cage on the other thread you posted! I like

So I was installing my chainlink fence this weekend so not alot of time to work on the car...I'm glad to have the fence up though!

    Done So Far:
I picked up a Rad support from Allen and Sons on friday and I have everything cut off and I have it dry fit with all the body panels on to make sure everything is set straight! Hopefully tomorrow I'll tack it on and be done with the front end collision damage Overall not painful at all! I'll have picks up tomorrow

I also measured out most of the cage and modelled it. In the picture below I'm still planning on adding the gussets ( between door bars, the diagonal members and the windscreen reinforcement) Along with that I'm going to tie into the front strut towers as well. If anyone is interested I can email the 3d model file and you can navigate it on edrawings for free
Let me know what you guys think so far...

Anyway, I'm off to relax some and I'll have more updates tomorrow. Still having a blast!

Hey thanks for the extra pictures and suggestions! I think I will add some of those extra bars! And yes about some fender support, I got that idea from your previous post on Billy Elliots build thread so I had that in mind

Would you happen to have Derriks contact info?

On That note...Does anyone know of any tube benders that I might be able to get access to? Borrow? Or some fabricators in the area that could bend some tube to some drawing specifications?
