Default Rally West Virginia - You guessed it... volunteers needed!

Just like any event... it's time to round the troops up!

    Here's the breakdown:
    Location: Snowshoe West Virginia
Date: August 12-13 (racing Friday afternoon/night and Saturday) (about 5 weeks from this posting)
    Link to sign up: http://www.nasarallysport.com/nrsdb/
    Event web site: http://rallywv.com/

Hams, marshals, and control volunteers still needed in many scenic spots.

Course cars and stage captains needed too. It's a good time to grab a stage captain spot to qualify yourself for a course car position.

Any thoughts on where I can get my hands on some good county maps? Always nice to have more than just the route book in the course car, especially for those calls to replace/leap frog to some other course car's position. Not that one ever stuffs a course opening/fast sweep vehicle.

I've always resorted to keeping my eyes peeled for a real book store once entering the state. I don't know if DeLorme makes a West Virginia... I'd bet they do by now.

They do, and it can be had from Amazon for $14.00. I scored an awesome Tioga county map that has saved my arse a few times at STPR. Of course it was a $5, last one in the rack, at 2am, in the gas station, in BFE type purchase.

    Anders --

Is there any need for sweep? We (STPR organizers) are trying to get more experience with other rallies. Would have one or two folks with well equipped vehicles - and many years of STPR experience. Cannot guarantee anything, but several are interested. I have talked to them about BRS, as well.
Dave Moore - KB3IEC, STPR Comm. Co-Chief, rally worker, '02 WRX Wagon + '03 Forester, "once upon a time" Datsun Z owner - go RWD!, too poor to race ... Blessings to all!

    Cool

Yup, still need some conscientious sweep guys. You've been up to BRS twice now, so I think you have a good idea what to expect of general operations. All the sign up is through the normal NRS database, and pass on to the new folks (as you already know) that they can specify what days/times they are available in case they can only make part of the event.

    Best maps here: http://www.transportation.wv.gov/hig...ountyMaps.aspx

    Dave:

John Shirley has me lining up the course vehicles. We need heavy sweep for sure, plus as many hams as you can get us, and if you can round up some of your boys, that would be great. Give me a call or email if you get a chance. [email protected] - comcast.net or 423 364 4424.

    Thanks,
