To my knowledge, Yokohama doesn't make a 16" rally tire. At least, it wasn't one that they offered to us to sell...

You didn't look like you needed it on Sunday!!

It is, unfortunately, not that cut and dry. The Silverstone tyres go through a US DOT approval process, but it is done from the approach of PR and quality standards. Silverstone feels that enough of the world would look favorably on a tire that has been US DOT approved. So, they have it, the majority of them have a DOT number stamped somewhere on the tire.

Now, the RallyCross rules for 09 specifically state the DOT legality issue, as well as the fact that the tire cannot have a "For Competition Use Only" stamped on the tire. Both Silverstone and Yokohama say something to the effect of "For Rally Use" and "For Rally Use Only"... Splitting hairs? Probably, but someone could probably get away with it for this year, I would think.

I would say it is a possibility. They haven't said "no" yet, but I suspect it would depend on whether or not they are actually producing it or not.
