That does look like some pretty significant rust - I'd consider looking for another shell too. They are out there. Of the four I have bought, I have never paid more than $500. All were 4 cylinder...

Having personally used this device, I can vouch for it - it has the FIA sticker and is legal. It was purchased new in 2012, has the sliding tethers..good seller too.

They were in a Vermont Subaru and experienced electrical relay problems to the fuel pump I believe...

My first event ended in a DNS - we registered, paid, showed, teched.....but broke a brake line while setting the terror trip during odo-check and never left parc expose. The Headwaters organizers...

My only piece of advice would be to put as many miles on it as you can before a rally, just to see if you can break anything before a serious $$$ entry fee comes into play....drive it to work, run...

The original 2.3 in the Mustang had 154K before it entered rally duty. The replacement 5.0 was purchased with a reported 100k on it for $400. I found a bent valve and got some replacement ~150k...
