Wellsboro, PA played host the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally this last weekend, June 1st and 2nd. This stop in the Rally America National Championship is known for its high attrition rate and very tight roads. The FY Racing team of Adam Yeoman, driver, and Jordan Schulze, co-driver, went off the road in the afternoon of the second day resulting in the cancellation of the stage.

Yeoman, of Houghton, MI and Schulze, of Hancock, MI, swept wide on a “right five tightens” but the car started to under-steer when Yeoman tried to correct the path. They left the road at about 75mph near the end of Stage 10 and hit a medium-sized tree on the driver’s side. The impact collapsed the driver’s a-pillar, door frame and roll cage.

Upon impact, Yeoman was immediately knocked unconscious while Schulze frantically tried to wake him. After about 30 seconds, Yeoman came to and Schulze exited the car to display the red cross sign so the next competitor would stop and help. After the crash was radioed in, the stage was immediately cancelled and the medical sweep arrived on the scene to find the pair out of the car and walking. The crew stabilized them with neck-braces and backboards and an ambulance arrived soon after to take them to the hospital in Wellsboro, PA. Adam had sustained a concussion and a bruised shoulder while Jordan was shaken up but doing fine.

The team finished day one in sixth place and had planned to pick up the pace a bit on Saturday to try for a third place finish. This is the second year in a row the #425 Subaru Impreza did not finish the race. Last year the pair rolled the car multiple times on Stage 6 and tried to continue but the damage sustained was too much.

The only road to the New England Forest Rally on July 13th and 14th is by finishing the new car the team has been working on for months. Calls have been made, emails have been sent and the plan is to start stripping the current car as early as tomorrow.

We want to thank all of our friends, fans, fellow competitors, event volunteers, emergency crews, tow truck drivers and officials for the help and concern during this time. The true strength and compassion of the rally community was displayed this weekend and we are proud to be a part of it.
