Wellsboro, PA, June 5th 2009: PPD Motorsport driver Piotr Wiktorczyk took his second win of the season in Super Production (SP) class last weekend at the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally (STPR), the fifth round of Rally America National Series. Wiktorczyk, and his co-driver Grzegorz Dorman, also secured their invitation to X Games 15 by finishing fifth overall at this event.

Polish team drove a perfect event with no issues with their equipment. Smart and steady drive during Friday stages on Waste Management properties put the team right where they needed to be to secure their X Games 15 spot, although Wiktorczyk was driving conservatively due to extremely rough surface and some issues with the car.

Wiktorczyk, Dorman, and the PPD Motorsport crew had worked constantly for the previous three weeks to prepare their Subaru Impreza WRX STI after their extensive rollover at Oregon Trail, which occurred while they were also sitting in the SP lead at that event. Thanks to one of their sponsors, Arlington Collision Center from Arlington Heights, IL, they were able to rebuild the car in time to make STPR and fight to keep the championship lead. This was PPD Motorsport’s second win of the season, and was the team’s fourth podium in five events this year.

Driver Piotr Wiktorczyk commented, “Wow, what a weekend! I have to be honest… Going to STPR was nerve-wracking for me. We were coming off the crash in Oregon, and the last time I went to STPR I ended up in a big off as well. On top of this, we only had two weeks to repair the car from the Oregon and I had to finish 9th or better here to qualify for X Games. I still don’t know how we did that! Greg kept me real calm and made sure I took it easy the whole weekend, and despite brake issues and a boost leak that took away a lot of power from the car, we still got the win in SP and 5th overall. I couldn’t ask for more. And not a scratch on the car! I am very happy with the result.”

Co-driver Grzegorz Dorman adds, “It is an amazing feeling that I have probably never experienced before. It was a double win for us– not only did we win the Super Production class here, but we got the X Games spot, which is what we were going for here. Peter drove very conservatively on Friday to save the car and be ready to attack on the typical, fast Saturday stages. A steady drive during the second leg of the rally put us back in first in SP and a great fifth overall. A twenty-point lead in the championship and an X Games invitation is more then we could ask to achieve in the middle of the season. This is great, and we can’t wait to be one of first Polish teams at X Games.”

The PPD Motorsport team, represented by Piotr Wiktorczyk and Grzegorz Dorman, is trying to secure sponsorship for its X Games appearance, as well as the rest of the season, as preparations are being made for the biggest rally event of the season, in Los Angeles, CA on August 2nd.
