Will Bill Holmes be able to go for his third rally win in a row or another competitor who could take that chance away from him? Doug Chernis? Jim Morris and his muscle Red Camaro? Kevin Welker? Who knows on this two-day event?

The 6th Annual Desert Storm Rally (located in Blythe, Ca.) is just around the corner on March 21-22, 2009. We have over 110 stage miles and great rally weekend for the competitors. Our major sponsors are Subaru SW Region, Lucas Oil, and Capitol Suites. We have other additional associate sponsors who always help with product or a small donation. We thank them for making sure we can continue the tradition of having a desert rally in two states (Arizona and California).

The community always welcomes everyone involved with the event. This year again the City of Blythe Volunteer Fire Department is having their annual fundraising dinner They have made sure they have their fundraiser around Desert Storm Rally, so that the community can come and enjoy seeing rally cars/trucks at the same time meet rally volunteers and the competitors.

Video-taping of a TV show concerning the event.
The TV show call “Roddin Racin” airs on FSN-AZ. will be videotaping to show a 10 minute portion on his show featuring all types of local motorsport that happens that weekend. The producer of the show is looking forward to this event and is very much interested in rallying. Air dates will be announced.

State of the Art Race Shop bring used for service and tech inspection:
This year we are centered around at the Palo Verde College – Blythe, Ca. George Walters who is an instructor at the college (which oversees the Lucas Oil Automotive Program Shop) wanted us to come on over and center most of the rally activities at the educational facility.. A state of the art automotive shop that that has everything you need to build any type of race car and students really enjoy getting their automotive careers started at this college. They have welcomed us to have tech inspection and service for the event. Plus, an added bonus…dirt roads behind the college with roads to use as a Super-Special which will be one of the spectator areas for the event on Sunday.

Silent Auction
There is a silent auction to happen during the event weekend with a Petter Solberg remote control rally car, autographed Travis Pastrana, Ken Block Subaru shirts, a discount voucher to 2010 Desert Storm, David Ragan and Jeff Hammond autograph previous Desert Storm shirts, etc. The donations are going toward the SWRC Competitor Emergency funds in the Southwest; for any competitor who needs the extra funds if he/she gets hurt while competing, the Southwest RallyCup Series will help out for them to pay any medical or personal bills to get them back on their feet.

Superspecials at Desert Storm this year!
We have two super-specials going on both days. Saturday we have the Lucas Oil Two Lap Showdown at the I-10 Speedway right before they have their national competitors run on the track. There will be over 500 race fans and media to watch how well rally cars can run on a oval 1/4 mile track. Then we have on Sunday the Subaru Southwest Region Super Special behind the Palo Verde College in Blythe, Ca. Literally all of the service crews can walk to see their team compete. It will be their final stage of the weekend and should be exciting to watch. Plus, a car show going on all day at Palo Verde College so the public can come and look at the show cars and watch the competition from the event just walking distance!

The event is included in the Rally America Southwestern Series, a series of rallies throughout the Southwest for 2009. Additionally, it is being a point’s event in the Southwest RallyCup series and the California Rally series. The three series consist of similar numbers of premier events ranging from Arizona to California, Colorado and Nevada.
