pn09_vokespreAfter a very successful debut season for Hardyboy Racing back in 2008, driver Hardy Schmidtke and co-driver Adam Vokes are pleased to announce the team will be back in action for the full 2009 Canadian Rally Championship! Following up on their first place finish in the CRC Novice Championship, which wrapped up only two months ago, both would like to again test their rallying mettle against the best Canada has to offer.

2008 was a season of ups and downs for the team. Having only ever competed at one regional event prior, the season was to be a steep learning curve. Notable achievements include placing fifth overall at the Rocky Mountain Rally, their first national event together, as well as winning the regional Western Canada Rally Championship. A great battle for the national Production 4 class championship ensued over the year, with Ted and Lise Mendham of Renaissance Rallysport eventually edging past Hardy and Adam in points.

Misfortune did strike during the season, including an off that ended team Hardyboy Racing’s attempt of the Mountain Trials regional rally in Merritt, BC, leaving the team’s morale at an all-time low. Things started to pick up again with a top ten finish at Rallye Defi, and by this point Hardy was yearning to start pushing the car harder. The Pacific Forest Rally was as good a rally as any for Hardy to push, netting a sixth place overall result. Unfortunately the season was ended on a sore note, with the car going off a 30 foot drop at the Rally of the Tall Pines.

The car has made a full recovery however, ready to do battle at the upcoming Rallye Perce-Neige Maniwaki. Hardy is quite excited about getting the car back together saying, “We must have gone through 2 parts cars to get it (the car) back in shape!” You can be sure that the team is bringing a well prepared car along with their A-game to the Canadian Rally Championship’s opening round in Quebec!
