sdrt-post07.jpgThe Safe Drives Rally Team, a team with over five seasons in performance rally car racing, experienced a new career high at the end of the 2007 season. Co-Driver Teresa Buren has won her first Regional Championship with driver and Team Principal Charles Buren winning his second consecutive Rally America Northwest Regional G5 Class Championship. Both team members have fought a hard season and have taken the crown driving the team’s front-wheel-drive 1995 Subaru Impreza.

The challenge of rallying a 2-wheel-drive rally car is extreme. The driver has to always balance power verses grip on the wide varying surfaces that rally racing throws at the driver.

Over the course of the 2007 season the Safe Drives Rally Team fought off challenges from competitors and the elements to reign triumphant in the end. A five-year veteran, SDRT Driver Charles Buren commented on the 2007 season from his perspective, “Well, with the weather conditions that we dealt with all season I think the team pulled off a great accomplishment in 2007.” Smiling brightly he continued, “Over the season we fought through rain, fog, a fogging windscreen, exhaust failure and host of surface challenges to win this championship. The driver’s championship was my personal goal for this season and with the help of my team, I did it. I really can’t thank my team enough. I’d also like to thank all of the workers and rally organizers, without whom these rally race events would never happen. Also, a big thank you to all of our sponsors that helped pave the way to a successful season.”
