tallpines_logo.jpgLess then 2 months are left until the 2007 Rally of the Tall Pines, the last round of the Canadian Rally Championship, takes Bancroft by storm. This year promises to be yet again one to remember and the competition is shaping up to be extremely entertaining. Over the last years the support from the corporate world has been steadily increasing and this year the organizing committee is particularly proud of the support it is receiving from new and returning sponsors. Whether they are local or national, they are all excited to be part of North America’s largest rally event.

New to the event this year is Ontario’s largest pizza chain, Pizza Pizza. With a restaurant in Bancroft, ON that newly opened in late November of 2006, it joins more then 500 restaurants across Ontario. Pizza Pizza is fast becoming the largest quick service restaurant in the country focused on serving the best food always, made especially for Canadians. Following on the rapid growth of the Rally of the Tall Pines and the dynamic expansion of Pizza Pizza the fit is natural. Fans taking advantage of the VIP program, which is now on sale on the event’s web site, will be treated to a Pizza Pizza lunch. The Rally of the Tall Pines is the best run rally in North America in large part due to its more then 250 dedicated volunteers. Pizza Pizza has been great at recognizing the efforts of those who will take time out of their busy lives to converge on Bancroft for the weekend of the Tall Pines and have decided to offer free pizza to all the volunteers who will be present at the Friday night worker meeting. Spectators are encouraged to visit the Bancroft restaurant during the weekend of November 24th for special rally deals.

Another new addition to this year’s great sponsors is Peterborough Mitsubishi located in scenic Peterborough, Ontario 1 hour south of rally headquarters. “Mitsubishi has quite a rally heritage with our Lancer Evo always out there performing with a big following,” said Product Specialist Craig Arrington. “And the Dakar Rally wins year after year show the durability of Mitsubishi vehicles, their performance and their ability to weather all elements thrown at them.” This is definitely true of the Rally of the Tall Pines which always has plenty of surprises for the competitors who come from across North America to race on some of the most challenging stages for both the cars and the competitors to the delight of the fans. The organizing committee is particularly pleased to see increased interest from car manufacturers in our great sport.

As we near the home stretch for the 2007 Rally of the Tall Pines, stay tuned to the official web site for up to date news and to discover what else is in store for this year’s event. Competitor registration will open soon and for those who would like to get even closer to the action, the organizing club, Maple Leaf Rally Club, is always looking for more volunteers to assist with running the event. As most of the returning volunteers will tell you, being involved with the event is the next best thing to being part of the competing teams.
