securedownload-1.jpegAfter planning to run an abbreviated schedule of events in 2007, 20-year-old Christopher Duplessis will contest the remainder of the Rally America season following considerable success on the national level.

To date this year, Duplessis has earned a class win in each of the four rallies that he has entered. Consistent results and a crowd-pleasing driving style have certainly helped the young driver.

“Going into this year, I was excited to drive more events than ever before,” Duplessis said. “After our good results early on, the decision was made to see if we could get more from our main sponsors.”

It’s those sponsors — specifically Team O’Neil Rally School and GO FAST! Sports — that have helped send the Maine-based team to Steamboat Springs for Rally Colorado.

“We really can’t thank them enough for recognizing the potential in this young team and talented driver,” said Forest Duplessis, Christopher’s older brother and Duplessis Motorsports team member.

Heading into Rally Colorado this weekend, Duplessis holds a 20-point lead in Group 2, a class for modified FWD cars like his 1990 VW Gti. Four wins in four events have helped the team secure the Eastern Regional overall, G2, and 2WD titles.

Notwithstanding their early success, Duplessis and his team still need a strong finish in Colorado if they are to reach their goal of a national title.

“It’s exciting to think that after only a few years of competing in rallies, we are looking at our first national title,” Duplessis admitted. “It’s a bit early still, and we will continue to take it one event at a time. This is my first time competing at this event, and I look forward to gaining experience at a new rally while at the same time getting to a good finish.”
