Default Olympus 2008 regional 2WD challenge.

I'd like to organize the Olympus version of the 100AW regional 2WD prize fund described in this thread.

Prizes (so far $814.20 pledged, thanks to derek bottles ($200), tabor rally team ($200), Integrated Electric ($100), john lane ($100), adame crane #742 ($74.20), safe drives ($50), me ($50), matt bushore ($20), and jim WASHPA ($20))
1st regional 2WD: $100 + $44 (thanks baja bill #44) + WASHPA racing visor (thanks jim!) + two bottles of cheap champagne (thanks doug!) + one set of silverstone rally tires (thanks tabor rally team!) + free entry to wild west 2008! (thank you organizers!!) + $444 if you're a truck (milos? michigan guy?) + 2 olympus shirts and 2 olympus shot glasses (thank you kim!)
2nd regional 2WD: $20 (thanks garth ankeny/trackside) + (total - $100) x 40% + 2 bottles of Cascade Cliffs "Goathed Red" wine (thanks tabor rally team and cascadecliffs.com!) + a set of HELLA FF500 driving lights (thanks All Wheels Driven and Barrett) + champagne for spraying (thanks doug!) + 2 PRG shot glasses (thank you kim!)
3rd regional 2WD: $20 (thanks garth ankeny/trackside) + (total - $100) x 30% + fancy bubbling apple juice (thanks teresa!) + 5 qts of Redline MT90 (thanks All Wheels Driven and Barrett) + champagne for spraying (thanks doug!)
4th regional 2WD: $20 (thanks garth ankeny/trackside) + (total - $100) x 20%
5th regional 2WD: (total - $100) x 10%
absolutely last finisher regional 2WD: one 12 pack of henry weinhard's root beer (thanks 12xalt), 19" hella map light (thanks Teresa!) + 2 olympus (root) beer mugs (thanks kim!)
1st overall RWD: add a very nice olympus event header and an amazing vintage t-shirt (thanks adam!) + 1 olympus beer mug, 1 olympus shot glass and 2 olympus shirts (thanks kim!)
all 2WD entrants: a TwoWheelsDriven decal from All Wheels Driven and Barrett. i laughed at this decal at DooWops, your rally friends will too!

Lou Beck has pledged $50 for the 4th and 5th place finishers, to be divided up as he sees fit.
Gene "the machine" McCullough has pledged $100 to the 2WD winner of the very last stage and an aluminum co-driver footplate to whoever wants it. I'll use a TI-84 Silver Teacher's Edition Graphing Calculator to pick at random from the finishers (I wish I was joking). If they don't want it, I'll keep picking until someone does.

I think that covers all the prizes. Phew!

rules:
regional or dual entry competitors only. none of these hotshot national guys. only two wheels driven: front, back, side, i don't care. it is okay for doug and dan to switch sides of the car. all prizes are funded by donations from generous 2WD supporters. you must finish both days to be a contender and your place is judged on overall finish (total time of both days). prizes will be awarded somewhere near/on/in the awards ceremony.

i got $50 on it.

NEW INSTRUCTIONS! Bring your prizes to our service guys anytime from when we show up on Friday to when the rally is over. If you can't find them at service, bring the prizes to the awards ceremony and look for the short guy in the cheap blue driving suit and geeky glasses. Mailing is no longer recommended as it probably won't make it to me. Alternatively, bring your prizes to the Pioneer Motel on the 18th or 19th.

let all your Gp2 and Gp5 and 2WD P friends know. enter regional or you get nothing.

it's on.

I'm not sure what a guy has to do, but you might be able to get RA to score this for you if you bring some rum to the event

edit:
PM me a mailing address and I'll send $20 for the pot.

I have two bottles of cheap champagne for the winners.

Oh, and thanks for calling our car sweet!! But you obviously haven't looked TOO closely. It does have a nice tow point on the back, perfect for hooking to tow ropes attached to beached VW's....

Oh yeah- I motion that any 2WD car be eligible, regardless of the crew inside. Since we'll be adding both days scores and Dan and I will be swapping places.

Doug

Doug

I'm all good with that Doug.

I think this is a great idea! Thanks for offering up $50 to get this going Don!

Safe Drives has been planning to offer our our Safe Drives Prize Fund at this event anyway. Traditionally we have given away 1-2 random prize drawing cash awards for folks that enter regional's, finish both days and run our stickers both days. We draw names out of a hat at the awards ceremony. However, after seeing this thread I think we'll offer $50 to the 2WD drive prize fund and $50 as part of our Safe Drives Prize Fund. I'll put together a press release and get it the right folks.

Thanks again for starting this Don!

I'll see all of you in Pomeroy!

well, i think it is pretty sweet. i seem to remember it flying by me dragging most of a tree at one of the first rallies i spectated. wild west 2003. just found the video on my hard drive. definitely sweet.

also, your motion has been seconded and accepted by the committee.

furthermore, tow ropes are everyone's friends.
