I am trying to set up my 2006 Evo street car with a smaller set of front brakes to run 15in or 16in wheels for snow tires and possibly rally cross events.
I understand that the front brakes from a 2000 4 cylinder Eclipse will bolt right on, but now I need to find wheels.
What do the professional teams do for their gravel/ snow brake set ups on these cars?

AP makes a bad ass 4-piston set up for under 15" wheels on the Evo. It uses a radial mount caliper, a custom aluminum mounting bracket, and two piece 12" rotors. It is not inexpensive, but it works awesome.
Yes, Eclipse brakes will work. Any 2g brake should bolt on (use caliper and rotor). Don't know how the balance will work with the OEM 2piston rears though.
Final solution, Brembo has homologated a 4 piston set up for GrN racing. Uberexpensive, but it'll bolt on and work.
As far as wheels, it's hard to beat a Compomotive for the price. They are pracatically indestructible. Speedline makes a good wheel as well that isn't a zillion dollars.

The driver of the Evo I co-drive for wants better front brakes (since we've had brake fade several times, and glazed even aggressive competition front pads and blue'd and warped rotors LFB'ing, especially on long and/or downhill stages, with the stock setup). After trying various different pads and master cylinder combinations without better success, he's been investigating brake upgrade options that will fit inside a 15" gravel rim. He's tried talking to AP about getting a front brake application for an Evo to fit inside a 15" rim, but they seemed totally disinterested and unresponsive, so he's planning on picking up the homologated GrN Brembo setup while he's over in Europe now on holiday. And yes, they are UBER expensive, like almost enough to induce a heart attack, especially with the poor US-to-anything exchange rate right now.
I suggest trying the bolt-on 2g solution first, since it should be pretty cheap, especially if you get them from a junkyard, and rebuild the calipers if necessary. If the result has too much rear bias because of the OEM rear calipers, you can always try balancing it out by running an aggressive pad in the front and/or a less aggressive pad in the rear. And, if that still doesn't provide the desired balance, you could always go to a dual master cylinder setup with balance bar.
he has a late model Evo & he is running JDM Evo RS brakes that he imports from Japan himself and I believe he has supplied a few other Evo guys with them... not huge $$ and they fit under 15" wheels + he will have info concerning the bias and any rear brake needs as well.

That's probably AP USA. You'll have to get the parts from Europe. Mine came in a box labeled "NOT FOR SALE IN NORTH AMERICA!" Go figure.
If enough people are interested, I'll measure up my setup and have Coleman Racing run a few duplicate sets. It uses an off the shelf caliper and rotor. Only the hat and mounting bracket are custom.
Easy solution, get in touch with ACP; he runs the SlowBoy Evo IX, and used to run an Evo IV. He's running 15's on both cars. I believe they're AP calipers, but it's been a while since I've touched them.
I have to run a small spacer (10mm) for caliper clearance, but otherwise, works great for RallyX. Here they are on the car:

The description for that setup specifically states: "Note: While this kit provides great stopping power, the reduced weight of the rotor assembly means there is less thermal mass and thus it is not recommended for sustained high braking applications like track days, time trials, or road racing.". So, I have doubts about its suitability for full stage rallying, particularly with sustained LFB'ing.

There are other people making nice hats in smaller series that what custom Colemans would cost, and you don't have to look far just down there V
And getting Circle track guys to understand the sizing that is need re caliper pistons is hard.
Again, there are folks who understand the sizing needed.
For a lower cost alternative, contact Todd Cook of TCE Performance Products. He's already making a WRX kit for $1100 and I'm sure he'd love to have a reason to do the same for an Evo. http://www.tceperformanceproducts.co...s.pl?record=19
11.125"X0.81" off the shelf vented rotor, custom aluminum hat, custom mounting bracket, and Wilwood NDL 4 piston caliper for under $1000. One month isn't a bad turn around time for custom parts being built 1000 miles away.
