I built an in-line amplifier to boost the signal you guys could borrow since I plan on going Peltor in the new car. It's set from the 1/8" jack to amp and then output as RCA mono plug. .
Is this the same pre-amp I built for you in my kitchen or a very similar one?
Yeah, only bugger is lack of intercom audio on the go-pro/countourHD cameras. You get good footage and views, but for "ride along with" views it's just missing that extra edge of the co-driver.
Ohh, that explains why I wasn't calling notes in the video Eric posted. I thought maybe he didn't wake me up for a stage again.
Yeah. Everytime he shows up, school is in session. Watch and learn!
Their in-car was from a Chase Cam (not widescreen, low res) and was really crooked, which is why it wasn't used. If they're at LSPR I will be putting a Contour in the Neon so we can get some real lessons.
Anyone else notice 7 manufacturers in the top 8? Time is ripe!
I'll take the ding for the crooked video from the Chase Cam. We didn't have a way to check the video without recording and then dumping the card to computer to check it. After setting things up Thursday afternoon, it got bumped outta whack moving the drivers seat for Lauchlin early Friday morning. I caught that it wasn't right, but didn't have the time to mess with it to the point of having it straight.
I have an Aiptek thingamajig that has audio in (as well as video in). I planned on using it at NEFR, but the thing crapped. Anything going in just buzzed. I'll troubleshoot my connections and see if I can mount that for a "back at the crew" view and then can edit picture in picture and mix the Navitron(r) sound with Contour footage from behind the crew.
The Contour must have the mic at the back, cuz my footage is heavy on the gravel sound and light on the gearbox sound compared to what we hear in the car without headsets.
The Contour video is superior to anything I've come up with using lipsticks and such, tho. Very nice. Thanks for letting us use them.
If an amp is needed, I used one of these for a while when I used to use a Sony D8 Camcorder. The sony looked for a higher gain signal than the Peltor provided, so I just wired this in. After a couple events, I had to make a splint to hold the cables in place as the connections were dying from the vibration. boo.
all raw video files are for sale. again, max attack!ers get it for free!
from grant's post in the photo/videos thread:
Visit www.nocoastmotorsports.net to see how many individual shots of your car we have available. Most of the shots are in HD and once purchased you are free to utilize them for anything you'd like. Promotional material, sponsor me vids, post to youtube to show your friends and family, etc.
Max Attack competitors can get their video for free. Just send me a direct email to dydxhughes at gmail dot com. If you want to donate you can also use the website to just purchase it as well.
Edited versions of all the Max Attack competitors footage will also be available sometime tomorrow.
100% of funds will go towards LSPR production.
I've been recording off my TerraPhone intercom with a cheap $30 walmart voice recorder. works okay.. ish my camera is low quality (and so is the driving) if you want to see what the end result was you can PM me, I kinda wonder if the audio wandered a bit during the video though ... i used Virtua Dub which really sucks for introducing audio. you have no control of where it goes into the video. so i edited all my audio tracks to have "GO" said on the 11th second. then i edit my videos the same (have to export it) then open the export and introduce the audio.
so i probably have the worst possible method, but it works.
