Just wondering if someone could post a synopsis of this year's AGM:

- rule changes approved/rejected
- motions/resolutions approved/rejected
- major announcements (ie. calendar, sponsors, insurance, etc)
- website status and plans
- drinking stories, etc.

Cheers,

Bill Westhead

Since no one else is taking this up ....

Schedule and rules are as was already announced - in fact they had 2003 rule books available.

Few announcements:

Subaru will continue their sponsorship although they have dropped the 'Title' to encourage other potential sponsors to join the party.

The 'train' will happen again this year.

CARS is very close to an agreement with a 'Marketing Company' to promote the series and search for additional sponsors. This sounds very, very good if all they talked about comes to be. Expect something from CARS within a couple weeks.

Some awards were handed out ;-)

Discussion (and that's all it was) during the 'open' meetings centered on Insurance, Stage Notes, Timing Equipment, 5 year plan/business plan, promotion and more.

I' sure others can add to this .....

"Big announcement to be made this weekend at the CARS AGM meeting in Calgary regarding a certain manufacturer."

So what was the announcement Dave? The Freedom Train? The (perhaps) enhanced TV coverage? A factory Buick rally team?

The person responsible was unable to attend the meeting so I don't know if it was announced but people who were there came back knowing about it so maybe it was. AFAIK, there will be a new manufacturer/factory supported team (sorry, not Buick). All I've seen posted elsewhere that I'm allowed to say is that the car is yellow.

Hmmm. Cars in Canada that come in yellow:

Mini Cooper
Toyota Celica GTS
Dodge SX2.0
Honda Civic SiR
Ford Focus
?????

This ass-u-me-s that we're talking factory colour.

WiLL Cypha (Toyota)

4WD 1.5L?
I thought it only came in automatic.

I don't see it listed anywhere on the latest FIA homologated cars list.

Neat looking car.

I've heard rumours about both an Alberta-based Toyota team, and several Fords being prepped...but perhaps not true manufacturer teams? Heck, if they announced it at the AGM, why can't someone post something here? Somebody fill us in :)

It wasn't announced at the CARS AGM. If it's the project that I've (unofficially) heard of, then I've (unofficially) heard that the formal announcement will be made at the Toronto Car Show. But you didn't hear that from me ;)

From the rumors I've heard and facts I know, there may be multiple new factory supported teams. 2003 CARS season should be a good one.

Well, if that is the case, fantastic! But when do they all plan to announce? The suspense is killing me!

Rumor that I heard is that one Calgary team bought Subaru in which Pat Richard won 2002 Canadian Championship
