I owe some special recognition to a bunch of generous people that helped me have such a huge good time this weekend at Ojibwe! In no particular order:
-The Ojibwe committee for deciding to continue with the event in spite of the challenges brought on by having to change gears from a National to a Regional event.
-All the volunteers who came out even though there would be no Ken/Travis/Mira/ACP/super special/etc. Special thanks to those long distance folks, like the 100AW and SnoDrift folks I saw out there.
-Sarah Buntzen and Carlton McMillan of sweep fame for helping me fab some quick-and-dirty cooling ductwork before Saturday's rally.
I really didn't think I'd be entering this year. The rally truck had a long list of probelms that needed a lot of work to be able to run a two-day rally with long stages and night stages. I wanted to support the event by providing another entry, but it just wasn't possible, until Ziptie rally stepped in. I couldn't have been there without these fantastic guys and gals. Extra special thanks to:
-Carl Siegler and Dan Pulles for helping work on the truck before the event. Dan in particualr came out for multiple late nights in my shop.
-Dan Mooers and Kelly Matson for allowing us to sleep on their floor in Bemidji
-Tim Anderson for driving our service truck to Akely and back each day.
Finally, thanks to Dan Drury for going above and beyond the call of co-driving duty by also helping out for many hours in the shop before the event (and of course for being an outstanding co-driver!).

Jim, we were happy we could help you out and get you and Dan out on the stages! I'm glad things went relatively smoothly and I know Dan had an absolute blast making the calls for you.
Ziptie Rally would like to thank the organizers and volunteers for pressing on and making this rally a terrific experience! Also thanks to NOS Energy Drink for providing the prize fund and Morries Minnetonka Subaru for their event sponsorship!
I'd personally like to thank our terrific crew of Dan Pulles, Martin Asao, Dan Mooers, Tim Anderson, Sheen Hua and our crew chief Matt Alexander. Thank you for keeping all 3 cars on the road. I know you were all busy with 171's smashed front end and 858's on going issues of everything but we couldn't ask for more! Also thanks to Anesa Sorenson and Kelly Matson for their help this weekend, putting up with ZRT and lending a hand to the rally by marshaling.
Finally, thanks to my co-driver Dave Goodman. I'm always glad to have you in the right seat reading the notes - a rock solid job as usual! And I didn't even wreck your side of the car (although I tried, and then I tried to wreck my side, and then I tried to wreck the rest of the sides)!
what a great weekend, can't wait to do it all again sooner rather than later!
You guys are both more than welcome! I had a great time, and wouldn't miss it for the world. I absolutely loved our service setup, and couldn't believe the number of people drawn over to watch us during service. And thanks to you guys, they had something to see ;). although mostly just tire carnage.
+1 on the thanks to the rest of the ZRT crew. we always had stuff to fix and check, and it all got done.
Anesa had a great time too! Thanks to the organizers for arranging a spot so she could help out marshalling, but still make it down for service. She also found that with her Nursing training, all she needs is a HAM license to help out with medical. So she will probably be helping out at future events.

Big thanks to the whole MN crew pulling off another great Ojibwe. I've been to several but this was the first time competing. I had a great time on the right side of the car on Fri. and we brought the Saab home for the first time on gravel. But Sat. dnf was the worst feeling ever. I felt like I was just starting to get the hang of it when the gearbox let go in a big way. Case is cracked and box all locked up. Hopefully we can get it fixed in time for LSPR.

Thanks to the organizers for putting on a great event with everything competitors asked for.
I was not planning on making Ojibwe this year, but once the details were released I forced myself to get the car together so I could get up there. I do not regret it.
Thanks to the workers for standing out in the woods. I had the chance to experience it Saturday, and while it is relaxing sitting on the side of the road for 8 hours...I had forgotten how much waiting around you do. But you did a great job, I don't remember a stage starting late either day.
Thanks to Kim for stepping in at the last minute to co-drive. Sorry about the ribs.
Thanks to my crew, who I had to search for even more last-minute than my co-driver. I was halfway out my driveway when I found out Dan was available and willing to join my rag-tag bunch. Caroline also did a great job for her first time, all alone, in the dark.
Finally thanks to the competitors. I wouldn't have made the finish without a tow from Moyle/Barton, and the Bushores brought out the BFH and massive prybar to try to get my car into the race Saturday. We got the door working better than it had before I smacked the stump, but could do nothing about the damage to the main hoop.

What a great time! I want to say thanks to the organizers and to the Hubbes and Bent mettle for letting me tag along and drive the deathbulance. Hopefully I can do it again in the future!

Thanks to Kim for stepping in at the last minute to co-drive. Sorry about the ribs.
Any time, Chad....even after the stump! I suspect the ribs are healing up faster than the B-Pillar! Get it buffed out and get to LSPR....sounds like it'll be another blast. Who'd a thunk top class regionals could be more fun than Nationals!

Good to meet everyone.
The atmosphere here was way less stressful than 100AW, everyone was really chilled out.
Hopefully I can make it next year!
Big thanks to the Huebbes' for putting Noah and I up/buying foodstuffs.

It was fun working on your truck. I enjoy little projects like that.

If you ran Ojibwe in a pre-1990 car or truck, be sure to register with the Vintage Rally Car Championship.

I owe so many thank yous, this is going to sound like Halle Berry's Oscar acceptance speech.
CTGordon for yet another excellent job on note-calling, and for putting up with me wrecking on your side of the car...second time in as many events:(
Gary Cupp and Josh Poland for crewing, driving many miles, and doing some serious fabrication on Saturday morning
CMXterra and the rest of the sweep crew for getting me back on the road and to the finish
bentmettle for providing tech assistance with a nagging little electrical glitch at Parc expose. VW guys are always so knowledgeable with electrical problems!
scrappy2.5 for doing some difficult and substantial welding for me prior to the event on a very short timeline. I hope I didn't make your gf too mad at me/us over it
C_Eixen for giving me a ride in the cheddarwagen, we all know what that means!
Tintmasters for repairing a tire for me before Friday
Competitors for stepping and actually going to this event when other events may have more implied "significance" (National series, MaxAttack, etc)
workers for making their annual blood donation out in the woods to the many thirsty skeeters out there
Organizers for providing good stages, lots of stage miles, a well run event, no canceled stages, and all in the face of some adversity.
Thanks everyone!
