While cooling off after Nemadji with my sloppy joe and lemonade, I was marveling at how lucky we are in MN to have such a deep group of volunteers in the rally community. I looked around the room and saw many people that have put in a CRAZY amount of time for years and years. In some cases our folks have decades of consistent hard work invested. Our hardcore workers have WAY more time invested than our competitors. I want to start a list to identify and recognize these people, our own version of the MN rally community medal of honor for the hardest of the hardcore. I'm goign to start it, and I know I will miss many, so help me get all the right people on this list!
Here's the simple criteria: These should be the people who have been at almost every MN rally. This is for people who attend ALL the rallys. This is a tough criteria, and that's not intended to exclude people, but to honor those that have put out the MASSIVE efforts for a LONG time. I'm doing two lists, a 10-year-plus Lifetime Critical Volunteer List and a 5-10-year Elite Volunteer List.
10+ Years attending almost every MN rally as a volunteer:
Kerry Friend
Karen Friend
Dave Fuss
Kent Kosobayashi
Beryl Ann Burton
Bruce Weinmen
Dan MacDonald
Brad Odegard
JB Lewis
Brenda Lewis
5+ Years attending almost every MN rally as a volunteer:
Amy Springer
Erik Dahl
Carlton McMillan?
Frank Buntzen?
Thanks workers!

Your ten year list is missing some folks. Of course I will probably miss some too.
Randy Hoffa
Bob Nielson father of ojibwe I think
Lea Hoffa Davenport
Doug Dill
and my mom Bev Davenport was pretty consistant for 5 years. Pretty good since she lives in Indiana!
just some I thought of. May not be currently helping but helped us get here!

10+
Mark Larson
Rachel Larson (whether willingly dragged to rallies or not, she has done a lot over the years with her dad)
Peter Winters
Emily Burton-Weinman
In the 5+ I believe we have:
Brent Carlson
Carrie Carlson
Mark Holden (most of the rallies over the past 5+ years he has either been at or has worked behind the scenes on them)
Denny McGinn
I know I'm creeping up on the 10 year mark myself.
I know there are plenty more out there as well that I didn't list. We have a whole new group of fresh workers that look like they might be here for the long haul as well. This is definitely something they can look forward to being acknowledged for later down the road too. I know when I started I was in awe of how long some people had been doing this. I looked up to them, got to know them and have worked side by side with them over the years. Wouldn't trade that for anything. Every region has their core group of diehards that make it enjoyable for all involved. It means alot to the workers to be recognized by the competitors for putting in a lot of unpaid hard work. Especially those that have stood the test of time.
Thank you Jim for bringing this topic up. I know you especially appreciate all the efforts that the volunteers put forth in order for you guys to go have your fun. I know you have voiced that many times over the years and it's very nice to hear that from you. It means alot to us that you continue to compete in our events year after year (when it's physically or fiscally possible). It tells us that our good job of putting on these events keeps you motivated to want to come out and compete in these events we put together. It's like any company out there. If you don't put out a quality product, you won't have any repeat customers that want to do business with you. We appreciate you as a repeat competitor just as much as you appreciate us as repeat workers.

Thanks for adding some names I missed. I'm looking a this as sort of a list "nominees" (I'm not assuming we've got all the right people on the list yet).
I'd love to somehow turn it into a more formal recognition somehow. What do you think our elite volunteers would like as an award? Something that publicly identifies them to the communtiy as a key contributor (something to wear or put on their car?)?
Obviously I'd be looking for help to determine any final list of names.

we should look into doing something like subaru did with their "Badge of Ownership" promo:
http://www.badgeofownership.com/
instead of "my __ subaru" it could be "my __ rally"
