Rallyfriends,
We all tend to think out of the box when trying to get an ailing rally car to the finnish. I am the kind of guy that could easily have put a torch to a lug nut, or tried somethink else stupid. Just lucky i guess. This video scared the bejeesus outa me. Do not apply heat to a wheel/ tire assembly!!!

That is scary, in my younger days, I've seen torches put on lug nuts, guess everyone got luck!

If you're going to apply heat, deflate and remove the valve stem core.

Did you listen to his examples of tires exploding even with the valve stem core removed? One of the examples the tire had been de-beaded and it had enough air generated to reseat the bead and then explode.

The pressure builds too quickly for the air to escape through the valve stem.
