Hey Folks! I am looking to reprise the rallycabal and get some events going in the Illinois/ SW Chicago area. I have some questions for those of you still running events under SCCA sanctions.

1. How are you handling insurance.
2. How much land are you currently running events on? 5 acres 10 acres?

any additional info would be appreciated.

If you run under SCCA you get insurance through them is my understanding of how it works. I don't think you can even if you want to run SCCA events without getting their insurance but I could be wrong.

Be great to have another region in the Midwest having a rx program.

Probably get a better response if you post on the SCCA site

http://www.sccabb.com/forum_topics.asp?FID=53

And on Dirty Impreza in the SCCA Rallycross and Midwest forums.

Love it, and I think the facebook group is a great way to go.

Yes, insurance is part of the SCCA RallyCross package.

Of note, these days SCCA requires all competitors to be SCCA members. "Weekend" memberships are available for $15, and up to two can be used towards an annual membership.

Requirements for safety stewards have gone up also, they must be licensed by the SCCA as RallyCross Safety Stewards now. If they are also competitors, there have to be two, and they cannot both be running in the same group.

5 acres could work if things were otherwise ideal (no obstacles or dangerous areas to work around). 10 acres is more realistic, I think.

NASA also sanctions rallycross, and the WAG does something entirely different to insure their rally-x events.

Glad to see you reviving the Cabal!

Glad to see you reviving the Cabal![/QUOTE]

With all due respect Mark, I'm not sure what you're referring to as aggressive here. To my knowledge you haven't ever attended any of our WAG Rallycross events, feel free to correct me here if I'm wrong, so I don't know how you would have any idea what our events are like. We insure all WAG Rallycross events through K&K Insurance and follow their guidelines for event setup, course layout and operation. We also follow SCCA Rallycross Class and Safety guidelines. We have not had any safety violations, incidents or insurance claims in our 8 years of rallycross events- or for our 20 plus years of Ice Trials events either. We are very proud of our safety record and strive to maintain our perfect score. I would be glad hear more about your concerns about our events and would love to have you at one of our events to see how we operate for yourself.

We have already offered to extend our insurance and sanction to the Rally Cabal for their new events under the Council function available to us in our insurance plan. We would be glad to help them with their efforts to extend and promote rallycross in the region.

Press on,

Dave,

If I've somehow stepped on your toes here, I apologize.
