Has anyone used priceline's name your own price for air fare???

Can you really get a good discount? Is it better to do it a few weeks out or a few days out.

Looking for cheap air fair from boston to dublin late 4/3 or any time 4/4 returingin 4/15 or early 4/16

Any help would be great and would mean alot.
Thanks

I've gotten round trip from Traverse City, MI to the west coast for $250 after tax and Minneapolis to Traverse for $150. I've named at any point, from a few hours out to a month or so.

Generally you fly at the worst times, either super early or super late. You "can't" fly standby and you get stuck with long layovers. However, I've always gotten gate agents to let me fly early simply by asking.

Name low, super low, and they either accept it or not. If it doesn't fly then you're usually offered a price for the flight you want.

Haven't used it for a while and never internationally.

As Pirate said, you get the crummy flight times and connections.

Bid low, there is no risk. If they reject it, you can't bid again until the next day (at least that used to be the rule).

Also, if they accept your bid, you bought it - no refund, no transfer - so be sure you are going to use it.

I use Kayak for flights (there are others for international). They don't list all the carriers (no SouthWest).
