I just got some nice new racing shoes which have a nomex inner layer and leather/suede outer layer.
Since I know they will be exposed to the elements, I had the bright idea of protecting them. So I picked up a can of spray on leather/suede protector. I have't put it on yet, cause I realized that it says right on the can: VERY FLAMMABLE!

Does anybody know if this type of stuff would be okay to use on a racing shoe? I suspect that it's only flammable while it's still in aerosol form. Once it's dried it might be okay.

The spray itself is flammable because it has about 90% alcohol so it can be sprayed and then evaporate off.

Most spray cans use aerosol as a propellant, which is flammable. I would call the shoe manufacture and ask them if it was ok. They will probably tell you no but they should also have some good advise on how your shoes will stand up to the elements.

I had called RLS, who is the manufacture of my driving suit, and they told me that they wouldn't recommend using Camp Dry on it but then they said that there's nothing to stop me from doing it.

I think Paul meant that most aerosol (spray) cans use propane as a propellant.
