Now that is a cool device!
As a Firefighter who has been to many car & motorcycle crashes, I can see a definite safety plus in the use of these.
Definitely something to have a closer look at.
Thanks for the link.

I heard of this gadget a year or more ago. The problem I see is that the responder has to know the device is "installed" to use it, and if he/she is removing the helmet, the wearer is probably unresponsive. If it becomes more common, it's a great gadget.

Is this like the air bladder in football helmets?

Great device. i can see this becoming necessary as hans style equipment has recently.

i'd imagine, as they showed in the vid clip, the sticker would be placed on the helmet showing responders it is equipped... plus.. wouldn't you see that dangly tube hanging down also?

oh snap, upon watching the video (missed it first time) I realize it is nothing like the football helmet inflator thing.

I saw these and tried them out at the PRI show several weeks ago. Pretty cheap, like $40 or something. With the CO2 cartridge it took 5-10 seconds to push the helmet off. Reusable. (but jeez, let's hope you would never have to!) Easy install. Simple to use.

Cheers,
Anders
