A road race friend of mine is doing some independent research to help anyone looking into a HNR purchase (new or used, I guess) and needs to contact someone owning one of the first generation HANS devices. If anyone here has one and wouldn't mind being contacted regarding their device please PM me.

First generation HANS? That's actually really old, you're not likely to find any of those...

How old is he looking for?

I have an early gen one. Came with D-rings, the padding covers are cloth, and I had to send it to HANS to get an SFI sticker.
