After way too long of a break, since I was banished to the south eastern reaches of Texas, where the terrain is flat, and the roads are straight...

I'm Back!

Look for a 'short' (90 mile) TSD rally through the back roads of brazoria and ft bend county in a few weeks.

The 'Surf Side to Sugar Land' Rally is about to take it's first teetering steps.

The initial route has been documented and the route instructions are being written!

I'm probably going to 'run' it alot like Garry D's rallys up in Tulsa, for my first attempt at rally master, esp since TSD rally is pretty much dead in this part of Texas. With any luck, this course will become part of a bigger and better rally.

Let me know if anyone is down houston/sugar land way and wants to help out!

Patrick! Directly above you meet Pablo (most call him Paul), originator of this thread and the builder/original owner of the CORT (Cousin of RallyeTruck) which he'll be in for the upcoming Rallye de Paris. That doesn't leave you out of a ride since the SORT (Son of ...) may be available for RdP. I stopped in Peculiar, MO. on the way to KC earlier this month to put an eyeball on it and Trey is resurrecting it as we speak. Based on your interest and Mr. Teegarden's desperation to get behind the wheel again I bet we can work out something that could find you competing on those Camp Maxey roads next month. You have my number, call me so we can start hammering out details!

How appropriate that the Son of RallyTruck lives in Peculiar, MO.

So the whole remaining RallyTruck family is expected at Paris? Is there a prize for the last one...um...standing? Or the first one to hit something...unusual? Like a boat?

Sent you a PM with my phone number and e-mail. I'm in Clear Lake near Patrick and mentioned him in my message. Give us a call.

Emailed you guys, thanks! Unfortunatly, my co-driver got a bad case of 'broke' at the last possible minute, so the only way I MIGHT make Paris is as a stage hand. Since I will be in OKC for Thanksgiving, it is concievable that I could persuade the Mrs. to head home a little early from visiting the mother in law, and make a pit stop in Paris ;)

It's KIND of on the way back to Houston!

The good news is, I'm going to try my best to get a 'dry' run of the rally done saturday, if I can find a few 'test' teams to run the course off my still developing notes.

If all goes well, I'm shooting for a mid december or early january event, depending on how much more interest I can drum up.
TONIGHT I ADD THE TULIPS TO THE ROUTE BOOK! W00T!

Gah, no tulips. Way too hard. I finished the final version of the route at about 10pm last night, only to have the rally software lock up and cause me to lose all my updates. Fortunatly, I had the updates hand written, so I will re-enter them today. We are ON for the test run saturday!

Paul,
Put a note on the TXIC (NASIOC Subaru Texas site) and see if you can't find a co-driver there.

Looks like the Houston Miata club is going to sponser/sanction/insure this rally, so we will be nice and legaly covered. Starting to look like the actual event will be a week or 2 after the new year.

Support and volunteers jumped out of the crowd at me when I announced this at the miata club meeting tonight. I already have enough folks to work 2 checkpoints!
