Go volunteer to work Shooting Star, Ojibwe and LSPR. You will have a full realm of seats to try. Look me up and you can try mine (Sparco Sprints....Cheap!)

Bryan are the Sprints tube frame seats? just curious.

also: does anybody have suggestions for a slightly taller, narrow frame seat? I'm like 6'1.5" 180lbs and a lot of the seats I have tried to date are too short. The Kirkey Road Race 15" has been about the best fit yet (and I notice about 2 people use kirkeys in our rally world)

Sprints are steel tube framed seats, correct.

When you say they are too short, you are saying that your shoulders are well above the openings for the shoulder belts?

The Racetech RT1000 has a 26.8 inch measuement from the seat to the bottom of the Harness holes at the shoulders. Hips are 15.4.

Seat and Steel brackets total $735.00 to your door.

Gabe, did you try out the Pro2000s when you crewed for me?

Jay is slightly taller than you , and they're just about right for him.

I'm looking to sell one, because they're a little short for me w/ HANS.

If you can make it down to Denver, Check-Point racing has no less than 10-15seats on hand for trial, plus everthing else you need for your car.

I thought i remembered you saying something like that.
assuming I make it to Shooting star with you guys I will have to try it out again. (unless it's already out of the car?)

I have them. I haven't been trying real hard to sell them, because I don't want to spend the money on new seats, just to have them be disallowed in '09.

Pegasus Racing (roadrace parts) in Milwaukee, WI is a good place to try seats. They have some in their showroom. Also, Behlings Racing (circle track) usually has inventory in house. Of course, call first for availability before coming all the way to Milwaukee.

On a separate, but related note, I hope you have more than $1000 in your budget. As a general rule of thumb with my rally expenses per year:
30% car maintenance
30% entry fees, license, insurance
30% travel, hotel, food, tow vehicle, trailer

and that's not including initial cost to purchase/buy race car or tow vehicle. Not trying to burst your bubble, just don't get in over your head spending all of your money on the car. I have heard that roadracing, you can spend a greater percentage on the car, but rally requires major infrastruture and logistics.

Thanks,
Brian

lol thats not actually my budget...thats whats in my bank account right now! I didn't bother to differentiate, as its a bit of a joke.

I'm not rushing this process at all. I only applied for a (navie) license yesterday... :)

That is the expected implementation date for the impending FIA side impact certification that is due out this summer...
