So we had a huge G2 field at LSPR this year. What's everyone's plan for Snodrift?
Sanfords
Koll/?
Moen/? (looking for another co-driver, again!)
Is there a pot like LSPR? I know I'm in for some beer, since I flaked on the deal at LSPR.

You going to rent the Jetta?
I'm out...car won't be ready by then...and it's a lot of money to drive on icy roads w/ studless tires.

Yea.
I just thought we needed to discuss something a bit more positive than selling/parting out rally cars, getting out of the sport, and NASA/RA. Is there a renewed interest in G2? I had a blast racing you maniacs this year! I've heard more than a few teams are building strong 2wd cars for 07'. On another front, Larry and I looked at a Jackson supercharged Honda hatch with a B16 and trans. from a Civic Si with a quaife. Ratty street car, but would be a killer 2wd rally car. Cars on the east side of the D.

It's a good event.
Finishing really means something.
The lack of studs isn't that big of deal.
We've ran twice. Finished for the first time last year.
I am working on figuring out how much the ol' Jetta would be worth rental wise and being able to provide at event support.

I dont like all this negative talk here! I hope it is only due to the recent cold spell and some angziety (wow that is wrong) about the up coming holiday. Barefoot will be running but some issues are still being discusses. I have two growlers of KBC beer to each regional race! That is if we dont crash and drink em, sorry to the winners if that happens, ;)

That's the spirit. Sixer of Bells to each G2 div. weiner on my side. So growler and a Sixer for each win, anything else? Nowbody is interested in the stage prizes $ they gave last year? We won $200 cash last year, that's pretty good nowadays...

I'll be codriving for Ray Foulkrod in the first outing for and the shakedown of his G2 911 (and his first time back rally driving after about twenty years). We are entered in the national instead of the regionals but with rear-engine-rear-wheel-drive will be real happy just to try to get close to the stage times of you guys. I suspect I can bring along some sort of alcoholic antifreeze to sweeten the regional pot. Maybe some Carib or Red Stripe so we can pretend we are down in the islands where it's warm.

Dave, you needed a few beers after that fiasco in copper harbor, eh?
Good times. I'm running snodrift (still looking for co-d), but after that it's either going to be a jackson supercharger G5 and STPR divisonals, or as-is G2 100AW. Thought about running nationals, G2, but still can't justify it.....is there any reason to run a 2wd nationally? Though I keep hearing that there's going to be a bunch of National G2 cars running this year.....The auto industry is dicey right now, can't justify any more than 3-4 events/year.

The Gene henderson Memorial stage $$$$, The parps Greer deal...$tires$ all have left a lasting mark in my mind in regards to support.

I'll be there. running ex-Boullion Neon #319. Just off Novice status, and hopefully just off "overheating status" too which is what hurt us so bad at LSPR. After new HG, replacement Cyl head, new radiator hoses, H20 pump, auxilary H20 temp gauge, etc. preliminary off-season tests have shown no overheating tendencies. I'm probably not going to set the world on fire (yet) but I hope to show marked improvement.
also looking to see Chad E and Jay L back soon (100 AW maybe?). I think we can have some good races in the future.
A big belated thanx to Matt "Mothra" Smith for hangin' in there at West Virginia this summer under difficult conditions and Don DeRose for keeping me on track @ OFR. Not to mention Syncronaut for the best damn generator rental period.
Props to Bryan H & The Boullion Bros. for tech support on neons and especially my crew Matt Nichols, Terry Wylie and Phil "Weasel" Marsh too

True story. I had this bizzare dream a few weeks back where I actually decided to go to S*D this year. (I must not have had a wife in college or had kids in the dream.) Anyway, I decided to shoot video as opposed to still photography. I'm on the outside of a 90-right intersection and Matt comes though the corner with a silver and yellow Eclipse on his tail. On the next straightaway the Eclipse tries to pass on the right and accidentally clips the Jetta's right-rear. He stuffs it and the Jetta rolls twice with and endo to boot. The ensuing dust cloud makes it impossible for a rookie in a new blue WRX to see and *pow* the Jetta gets hammered. I caught the whole thing for ESPN2 and remembered saying "HOLY S**T" when it happened. I'd consider it a good thing you're sitting this one out as I've had premonition dreams in the past.

Two twelves of Red Stripe are already in my car ready for the trip north. They keep making that distinctive glass bottle full of beer clanking sound that is music to the ears. With luck most of them should make it to the rally before they get emptied!
By about this time the 911 may have already found it's way to Lewiston. You should list our entry under Ray Foulkrod, not me. I'm just the ballast along for the ride.

No S#!t on BOTH points!
Ben, buddy, brother, pal, where's the 2WD love, man? :D
So far as 8+ minute mistakes are concerned, I think there is no better example of how the tortoise can vanquish the hares at S*D than Kala Rounds and my G5 run in the Production-spec StudBug in 2005. A heavy, underpowered, outclassed, P-car driven by a southerner who hadn't rallied on snow since 1978 with a new (to him) codriver who (like him) had never been to SNO*DRIFT before managed two second place Regional finishes because we adopted and adhered to the strategy of finding all the FTCs without digging out of ANY snowbanks. While the Hakka 9s emperiled that plan more than I knew they could, we somehow made it through without carrying a shovel and even had the tow rope stowed like normally. Trick ios, we outran NO ONE - but we fiished ahead of a lot of teams who struck trouble.
Good luck to all the 2WD teams!!!

As for Chris, awesome drive. My appologies for not having my loot at the awards, but the crew had it in Lewiston, so I'll owe you (or your crew) 12 at the next one. I had to guard that damn beer with my life. My crew was salivating like dogs over it! And in the end they drank it anyway!

When we (000) went into stage 8 on Saturday morning, it had several inches of almost unbroken snow, covering one of the nastiest, roughest stages I've been on. My Cherokee with Hakkas handled it fairly well...but my hat's off to any 2WD car that ran that stage successfully at speed.
With the possible exception of tires, Sno*Drift is not about machinery, it's about drivers. And codrivers, too...it can't be easy calling turns with no visual contrast and (put very mildly) inconsistent grip.
Good job, guys.

Same for me. It appears we probably holed a piston Friday in the 911 and lost our oil pressure so we were done at the ATC of stage 4. I gave the Red Stripe to Mary Shiloff at the MTC in Lewiston and she said she would bring it to the awards. However, Mad Mike was there too and appeared to be drooling, so hopefully you guys got it.

So, I had a little more, and sent the rest with the Duplisess team for inspection. If figured it was not in my best interest (liver's best interest) to hold on to a whole bottle of rum. No. Not knowing Slocum had tucked tail an split I was looking for him AND the TV2GO guys as soon as the results were official.
