So far as I can tell, the Best Wetern down the street from the Franklin Inn in Houghton (smack across the streeet from that tiny McDonalds downtown) is now an America's Best Value Inn - but no one is answering the phone there and their online registration stuff isn't active. Did that facility change hands and does anyone know if they'll be doing business LSPR weekend? I appreciate any help on this one ...

Hi Mike,

The answer to this one is they are no longer in business. They closed up after last year's rally due to increasing competition in the area (the McDonalds, btw, isn't there either anymore!). So the other options are the Franklin Square Inn, the Super 8 on the canal, the Ramada on the Hancock side, the Holiday Inn Express, and the new Country Suites Hotel. Let me know if you need anything else!

I heard that they closed because the walls in the bottom floor were caving in because of how it was built into the hill. In any case its no longer operating, but is for sale for like .9 mil.

Mike- we're at the HI Express- it's REALLY nice & it's right across the street from the Parc Epose...

but, you cant stumble to bed after the drunk fest downtown...

But I can! Living above the Library has its perks. :-) If anybody gets really bad my floor will be available.

Cripes, you need to work on your drunken stumble, it's just a few blocks from the B&B. And right next to Perkins for a 2:30AM "Tremendous Twelve".

:D

Thanks to Jeffy's kind offer we scored a couple rooms at the Super 8 near the HQ hotel for this year. Not so close to the parc expose as it could be, but what's LSPR without fretting about making it up the hill in time while waiting in line for a break in all that bridge traffic?

Unless, of course, one uses the back side entrance to the shopping center ... ;)
