Hey all,

I just bought a new VW Racing ring and pinion. It is set up for some particular european LSD, so I need to have a new hole pattern drilled. I was wondering if any of y'all could recommend a good machine shop that could drill such a pattern and keep everything centered/balanced.

If anyone knows the pattern dimensions for the stock ring and pinion (020, 16v tranny) that would help, too. I was just going to bring in the stock one and have them measure/match it.

Thanks

DOes the new ring have to be heated to be fit onto the diff the way the factory ones do? I would think that if that was the case it would center itself pretty well.. (Think hubcentric) A tranfer punch of the right dimension will get the holes in the right place on the ring, though with a hardened ring it might well blunt the punch too...

just an idea might help out.

Otherwise, no I don't know of any (Wish I did!). Utecht might be able to help you or Niday or Dan MacDonald.

Hmmm...good point. I don't know if has the same inner diameter as the stock unit or not. I still need to pull the stock ring out. If it is, then a transfer punch would do just fine. I still would have it done at a shop though, I don't have a drill press that I trust.

I was thinking along those same lines. You could at least get the setup and layout done before it went to the machine shop.
