I can recommend one.

Steve Nielsen is running a new shop. Does great work at a great price. I don't trust taking my cars anywhere else.

Ask for the SpecialStage discount. ;)

Any other MN mechanic recommendations, please post them here.

I've had really good luck with Courtney Trucking Svc. in Eden Prairie off of 494 and 62. It's not really a truck shop. He does all kinds of stuff. Alot of Porsche guys go there. I think at least one or two rally cars in the Twin Cities have a sponsor on their cars. He has alot of experienced import techs as well. Someone needs to get Mike (the owner) to a ProRally.

The Phoenix in St. Louis Park is another good shop. Don't know how their prices are, but alot of the techs he has have been in the business along time. Bob "Fifi" LaBresh is no longer the owner.

South Central Imports in S. Mpls. specializes water-cooled Vee Dubs. Chad, the owner, used to crew for Aaron Hatz.

Barney's Midway Garage in St. Paul is the best I've found for domestic work, especially GM products. Dan House, the owner, is an old autocrosser.

Up in Duluth, Foreign Affairs is really good as well. They saved my butt once when my tranny quit. I'm forever grateful.

Glad to see Steve's back in biz. The Mazda needs the tail light situation tended to before winter hits. I'll be there.

If we're talking about getting an honest quote and quality work done on the family car or daily driver, then my recommendation is Hawkins Service on 45th and Nicollet in South Minneapolis. Tell Tom or Harold that J.B. sent you! Phone 612.827.2971.

I've had very good luck with Metric Auto Works in Saint Paul.
They are located at the south end of the High Bridge. 651-228-9840.
They specialize in the germanic stuff but they work on all imports. They MAY even work on your domestic, but don't tell anybody.
Metric is also starting to dabble in distributing rally related products (Aquamist, Hella, etc)
