What: Gravel TSD rally with tulip-style instructions

When: October 12, 2002. Registration 12 noon-1 PM. FCO 1:01 PM

Where: Godfather's Pizza, Red Wing, MN. In Pottery Place on Old Main St.

Presented by: Land O'Lakes Region SCCA

How much: SCCA members $15, non-members $20

Once again, we'll take on the gravel roads of southeast Minnesota...the usual Goodhue County stuff with some new roads in Wabasha County for good measure. About 75 miles of rallying. Brisk, but not insane. Gravel, but not a "car-buster."

Wow! Has it been a year already. That was Stacy's first rally. Met Mark Utecht there, bought the Omni a few weeks later, haven't looked back since. :)

Do you need workers Bruce?

I can always use workers. At the moment, the first car will get to work a control.

Wow! That was fun. There was one *ahem* leg towards the end that ran along a small river. The scenery was breathtaking.

I brought my brother out for his first rally. We almost didn't get to start because of some battery drainage issues (music). Getting a jump from a friendly local allowed us to get under way with only the need of a 3.5 minute TA. Almost put his car into the trees (summer tires, slippery mud and gravel) on the first stage, but cleared the red mist away soon after. Great fun, wish we could have stayed for pizza but had prior dinner plans already. Hopefully someone can post the scores.

Thanks to all the organizers and workers that made this happen. It was great. I still can't figure out why more performance rally teams don't come out to do these events. Perfect shakedown and so much fun. Oh well, they don't know what they are missing.

I am thinking of moving out of the stock class and going to more rallies next year. Any advice for computers would be welcome.

Actually, I do know what I'm missing. I've done "Tulips" a couple times and I loved it! The reason Kaari and I don't go, is that we're frantically trying to get ready for LSPR. Every year we put "Tulips" on our calendar, and every year we don't make it... Some day we'll be back.

Thanks to everybody who helped: Beryl Ann, who helps write the thing and then does just about everything else...JB and Brenda Lewis, who blew off yard work to come...Emily, Keith and Chuck, recycled ProRally workers...and Kerry and Karen Freund, who not only manned a control, but loaned me their car for measurement.

And thanks to those who came to compete - determined to have a good time no matter what the rallymaster and Wabasha County threw at them.
