RallyCross on Oct. 13?

Chris Baye is interested in putting on a rallycross at the St Cloud, MN state patrol driving facility on Oct 13. Who thinks they might attend? If we have this event, should it be a points paying event to replace Aug 4?

I don't believe the rules allow for that, Mark.

The rules say:

Only events designated as Championship events will be counted. Events must be calendared by March 1, 2002 to be included in the Championship Series. Non-Championship event additions may be made with prior notification by publication in The Tonneau and/or The Tonneau Online.

Technically, the addition of the event at all is against the rules, but since as a non-points event it would not impact the championship, I wouldn't be adverse to the addition of the event... Would I come? Well, have I ever competed in a rallycross?

As one of the people who helped write those rules, I would allow that if you got a significant number of the people who have otherwise qualified for the championship to agree to allow this event to be a points event (and I am talking super-majority here)it would probably be ok.

Am I trying to rain on your parade? No, absolutely not. Just in light of so many rules being ignored or applied only to some, I think it would stand as a good example to follow the rules as they are currently published.

Wanna change the rules? There is an LOL comp-board now, and they will be looking at the rules for 2003 shortly.

I talked w/Chris and he has the site and can obtain insurance on his own. That would mean that this would not be an SCCA or LoL event. At this point in time, he needs a group of people that are willing to organize the RallyX portion of the event as he will be involved with the track day portion of things. He would need a rallymaster, course designer, registration, timing and tech inspection. If you are interested, contact me and I will put you in touch with Chris.

I would love to go. If my schedule allows. However, I have been to this particular site before. It is a tarmac track. Excellent AUTO-X site. Is there a dirt section that we would be using?
