As I plan the team budget for next season, I notcied something. The entry fee for OFPR and the associated ClubRallies are both the same ($625 if you reg. early). Yet...the ClubRallies have 14 less stage miles. Why is this (I'm not bitching mind you...I'm just curious)? Is there anyone else out there wondering about this (see what happens when I'm at work)? If stage miles are cut shouldn't Club competitors get some type of price break?? I know 14 miles doesn't SEEM like much but....at $5/mile for Pro (625/125=5), that works out to a $70 price break. Pretty significant considering that could pay for one night of lodging. Just my $.02. See you all at LSPR (Stacy and my honeymoon)!!!

It ain't that simple... you don't "pay by the mile".
Fixed overhead exceedes the variable costs...

I agree you don't pay by the mile. The fact still stands...PRo and Club payed the same and Club had less miles. I'm just kinda interested as to why. Maybe I don't have all the info though. Is there a Club stage that was cut for safety reasons??? Is it a safety issue? Is it a rules issue? I'm uneducated...please educate me. :)

p.s. How'd the new car run? We're looking forward to seeing it at LSPR!

The Chairpersons requested that the Club event end prior to the Pro event on Saturday. There could be any number of reasons for this, including allowing the Club competitors and crews (many of whom are local Cendiv'rs) to arrive at the party and enjoy the excellent food and drink prior to the big national guys getting there and wolf'n it all down. Granted I do believe that the Sat club guys should have gotten a little price break due to the lower number of miles, but that isn't my call.
As an aside, the 2 stages that the Pro's ran that the Club guys did not were not exactly "appropriate" for a club rally anyway.. very high speed, not particularly technical and really more of a horsepower contest than a drivers test.
Thats the best I can come up with, if you want to know all the answers, email or call Bruce and Beryl and I'm sure they'd be happy to explain their reasoning to you.

Brad:
Thanks for the info!! :) Very Very helpful. It would make sense that high speed stages might not be best for Club competitors. A price break would be good...but whatever. $625 still isn't bad for a weekend of fun.
As for the food...I have to agree. I'd want to get there before the Nat. guys myself. hehe. ;)
Thanks again!

I'm glad to see that everyone took the time to do the math.
The pricing was changed twice - once upwards, and then back down. I missed one of the pages while doing updates.
This page was correct:
http://www.ojibweforestsrally.com/competitors/paypal.php
This page was not correct:
http://www.ojibweforestsrally.com/competitors/register.php
They are now both correct and show that adding up the two club rallies is $600, not $625. There was no $25 punishment for entering both days. :)
