I think(Iknow)i'm going mad. There's no Rallycrosses in or around
Cincinnati within a 200 mile radius. Is there any Safety Stewards
in this area that would help?I pretty sure I got a place and the
regional SCCA would help with legals ,but no Safety Stewards.
Cincinnati region is mostly road race,we don't even have a rally
chairman.:-( On the other hand the Western Ohio Region is having
a hard time finding a place in there region and they have a rally
chairman. If anyone knows a good place for a rallycross around Dayton
Ohio contact Chris Watson at "forceviper@aol.com" or me "here"I will
check daily.
Please help stop my insanity

Eric:
Check with Bruce & Beryl Ann the Cen Div Club Rally steward and Safety Chair respectively.
If they give the OK for me to be your Safety Steward for a
rally-cross, I'll help with whatever I can.

I'd approve Mike for a rallycross Safety Steward in a heartbeat.
Now that that problem's solved, get that site and send in the sanction apps. What ever happened to the rallycrosses in River Cities Region and Western Ohio, I think? I remember approving several in Southern Ohio last year.

FREAKING AWESOME,I,ll start the ball rolling down here.It might take a while since I never orginized an event before.Do yall have any tips or tricks that can help make this go fast and easy?I never thought i'd get a reply or one this quick.Hopefully that farmer will let us use his back 40 like he did in the year 2000,but the farmer and his buddies raced there rail bugs and such in a seperate class and they couldn't beat the club car(4dr Cavalier, auto). Will that be a problem with yall, that they do the same?I think, that was a condition of land use. Also,I think, they have something like over 100 acres,I'll find out.In the Cincy Region 100 acres is alot, since it's mostly city and burbs.
As far as River City Region,no website, and Western Ohio Region they haven't posted anything on there website yet and I haven't called Chris
in a while.Chris Watson is(last time I talked to him)getting something going, his usual place is alittle beat up for street cars.He needs some heavy equipment to level the land out.I think,he'll use that place as a last resort.
I appreciate the help, will contact yall if it does or does not happen.
Thank You
Eric Adams

Re: buggies in rallycross
Remember, cars that compete in rallycross must be FIXED ROOF PRODUCTION CARS. No exceptions. Be sure to read the other rules in the latest Performance Rally Rulebook...there are only a few important ones.
I'll email you a presentation on how to put on a rallycross.
Bruce
Cincy lost their site at the gravel pit. Not sure about Dayton.
Heard the organizer got "busy" being a board member for something
else. Region maybe?
Closest at the moment is north of pittsburgh. :-/
I've talked to a few places not too far from Columbus about hosting
a series for next year. No takers yet. Mostly unused farm land.
SLOWLY talking about bringing back sunriser as a club as well.

I have the 2001 rule book is there any changes in the 2002 rule book?
I'm also a new member,2 years now.I joined the SCCA because of Rally.
I didn't know there were so few of us in Cincinnati. Can one person
carry two or more duties? You know what I mean?
wahl, what gravel pits are you talking about. There are about 10 gravel pits on one road along Great Miami River. Most are still producing gravel
a couple are flooded and one was takin or purchased by Hamilton county
for a shooting range for there deputies and such. The last one,I think
might be the one you are talking about. How long ago was this gravel pit
rallycross? If it was 16 years or less there might be a chance to use it again. There was one,now Hamilton co's.,that was used by local 4x4s illegaly when I was a teenager 18 years ago.Jees i'm rambling on.
I will go to Columbus but not north of Pittsburg;)
That have a new dawn for the Sunriser!

Not so's you'd notice. The 2002 rulebook is online at SCCA.ORG.

When you put on your first event, I insist that the Safety Steward not compete. Other than that, competitors can do just about every job...although you might get complaints if you lay out the course and then compete. Your registrar and tech inspector will be working at the same time. What else were you thinking about doubling up? I've put on an event with two people...recruiting help as they arrived...

It's a little north and east of Cincinnati - but Beaver Run is apparently holding Rally Cross events. See more at www.beaverun.com
(I think)

A "little" north and east? Spoken like somebody used to towing around CenDiv...27 hours from corner to corner.

Would a club car work for you Bruce and Mike?
Scott, thanks for the dates.I won't make it though, company picnic is the next day. This month is crammed full of things to do,but if you see anything for next month that would be cool.Beaver Run it the farthest I'll go till I get my Suburu back from my dad and fix my truck.I'll be running my half a**ed Cavalier;-) untill further notice.

Some guys in my region bring a Mazda pickup lovingly known as the "POS" that they let anyone drive. There's usually enough for a POS class. Club cars aren't a problem - fewer cars to tech...although if I were a tech inspector, I'd look REALLY CLOSELY at a club car, knowing how much abuse it will take.
Cars with multiple drivers can cause some event schedule snafus, but nothing you can't work around if you know about it in advance.

Be sure to keep us in mind. My son Brent and I went to a region meeting a while back and learned of the former rallyx here. It got our attention.
We'll help as much as we can. Might even rejoin after 20 some years. Sounds like a good idea.

You really have to start reading that rulebook...:-)
For a rallycross, just about anyone can tech cars, although a licensed tech inspector would be nice. Ask the folks in your region - they probably have a few around.
I wouldn't advise that you try to organize the event, lay out the course, register the competitors, then tech cars...if you get my drift.
Rallycross tech is pretty simple...tread on the tires...belts...helmet...loosee objects in the car...leakage in the engine...battery secure...maybe a wheel bearing check. I think I have a typical rallycross tech form around somewhere if you need it.

Sorry I didn't think of this sooner - but Dan Coughnour (near Dayton) and Bill Secrest (just accross the river from you in KY) usually put on a rally cross or two each year. Usually they are part of their respective road rallies.
Not sure how to get in touch with them as I don't have that information here. I think both would be great help to you. Plus it might give you some place to play. Check the River Cities website and the Dayton Car Club (if they have one - or WOR). You should be able to determine when these events take place if you dig deep enough.

Bill Secrest is RE of River Cities Region...his email is on the SCCA.ORG web page under that Region. IIRC, the previous rallycrosses were on his farm.
Dan C. has been pretty busy lately, too.

I'm pretty sure I have a place to hold this and many other rallycrosses.
It's a farmer's field in Bulter co.The Cincy Region used this place two years ago.I was suprised he ageeded to meet with me since the last rallycross that was scheduled was cancelled the morning of a rallycross.
Does anyone have any course recommandations that they used before?
The old course is probably grown over by now.Thats alright,it had a pretty bad dip at the start. If you hit it wrong, your oilpan might hit the ground:-(
Thank you

p.s.should i move this post to Organizers Forum?
