Description: 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit. Runs great, Brand new Cobra seats & Crow Enterprise 6 point harnesses. Peltor FMT110 intercom, 3 sets of spare wheels & tires (including 1 set of street tires)

Suspension & Steering:
Bilstein Group 1 Coilovers that we fabricated on the front. There are coil springs and helper springs. The rear is Bilstein Sport coilovers. Springs are Eibach, and we run no front bar and and Autotech 28mm hollow rear bar. Springs are 300 on the front, & 200 on the rear. The suspension has around 12 events, and the fronts are probably due for a rebuild
Ball joints and tie rod ends were replaced this season. Steering is precise and there are fresh rubber bushings in the control arms. The steering rack is a quick ratio Quaife unit with 2.8 turns lock to lock.
Transmission:
The transmission is a close ratio GTI gearbox. There is a chunk the size of a silver dollar cracked in the bell housing. It does not affect the performance of the box. There is bit of oil leaking from what appears to be the main seal on the engine. Differential is a Quaife and works perfectly. Clutch is a four puck racing clutch and it provides positive engagement in all conditions. The transmission shifts smoothly and there is no gear noise. It has had Redline MTL in it exclusively since it was built. Ring and Pinion is a 4.46:1 gearset from Autotech. Gear ratios are 3.45/2.12/1.44/1.13/.91 with a top speed of 103 mph at 6000 rpm.
Engine:
The engine is an inline four cylinder water cooled cast iron block with aluminum head. This is an ABA block, also known as the 2.0 liter tall block. Headwork was done by M&M Heads in Delaware, Ohio. The owner of M&M was a former VW 1/8 mile drag champion. The head has been polished and ported with a competition valve job. Cam is a Schrick 286 with hydraulic lifters.

The engine runs strong, but can be difficult to start. Most of the CIS has been stripped from the car, and it has a difficult fuel curve. I would recommend adding back the O2 sensor and control box, or changing the fuel distributor to a VWMS type unit. The car does not overheat.
The car pulls hard in all gears and makes great torque for a VW engine. It revs freely and accelerates quickly.

Brakes:
Fronts are 10.1 vented rotors with Ferodo DS3000 race pads. The pads have a great initial cold bite and donít fade. Rears are Scirocco 16V solid discs with Ferodo DS2500 pads. Fronts rotors and pads are two rallies old, rears are one rally old. New bearings were installed in the rears before its last rally. Brake fluid is AP 551 exclusively. Brake bias is adjustable with twin
